Description
I'm always looking for the flight shots, i've realised i usuallyjust pick single birds out to shoot so i decided to switch
and try to get multiple birds in the same frame.
A trio of Mallard.

Cheers!!!!! it suddenly dawned on me after catching so many half caught birds in frame that why not try and get them all or a group them. i wish i had tried it before
giving me a good reason to use the 70-200mm zoom lens, which seems perfect for the task.

Amazing man, just cannot believe how you nail these shots.
Mind, take away that third bird in the background and you'd have two birds lined up with perfectly opposing wing-strokes...... and that would be perfect enough for me to remove you from my list....

Thanks its funny you mention the shot with 2 in frame with one up one down wing-strokes, becaurse i have another frame from that flyby side on just like that LOL i wasn't sure which to sub of them
but that one won with having more birds.

Tell the truth Dave, you suspended them with fishing line against a pale blue backdrop..... I think the shutter speed must have been one bazillionth of a second!
You are the best bird photographer that ever graced the planet, in my humble opinion anyway. Wonderful capture. I am very happy to see you subbing some more of your wonderful and beautiful captures

Thankyou yes it was 1/2500sec i find 1/2000sec and above can cope well with most medium sized birds wing beats.

I checked your friends link out cheers Fantastic work and love his approach to it, the line "It can be said that photography is like drawing with light" thats exactly how i treat my wildlife photography, the light is like
the pallete of colour to paint the shot. i will certainly be checking more than just the birds out.

Many thanks the main thing that has really become apparent is the diference the light and especially the direction it hits the subjects. im very consious of where the light is
while im shooting so much now. its the best thing i've learn't for my photography.

I agree. I am learning to watch the lighting also and where the sun is at the time depending on what type of picture I am aiming for. It is fun to learn sometimes!!

This is my fave of the trio series. I am fascinated that you captured them while the wings were up on the one and down on the other. Makes such a great composition.

Thats my personal favourite too for all the reasons you state, they might be common but still very nice birds to
photograph, especially all the colours they have

Stunning shot David! This has to be one of the best Mallard in flight shots I've ever seen, seriously! The lighting, wing position, focus and colours are all absolutely spot on. Well done mate.

Thankyou very much that means so much coming from you
that was took in late afternoon/evening light and i think its that what really made the difference on the colour of it. i will certainly be trying more around that time.
