Oh yes my friend, i've been seeing this behaviour in so many other species too. yes i've sussed them out more or less how they attack and what moves they
put on each other LOL so i can anticipate a good lunge now.

I haved captured this behaviour before last year i think, probably about the same time too. Lots of action to capture and Coots are a big favourite.
i never know which one to submit LOL.

Well he might look smug in this frame LOL but i assure you i have lots of other frames where he certainly isn't. I have another one which nearly got subbed instead
of this of them actually head butting each other LOL, they really take chunks out of each other for sure, this fight lasted probably about 40seconds which is quite a scrap
theres also a 3rd coot that acts like a referee not in this shot but got one of him splitting them up, must have been the end of a round

birds, its very rare you can spot a subject and walk over and just shoot it, especially if you want natural behaviour shots like this one. So yes im prettly much camouflaged
clothing wise, and i always wear knee pads and carry a water proof sheet so i can lay down for longer periods. I really do not care about getting shitted up or marks and wear
and tear on the gear, theyre just tools to me. I have done a lot of hunting and shooting over the years, i've realised myself its that what i use my camera for, the Hunting. instead of crosshairs
i now frame a subject in the focus reticules, make similarl calculations, contol my breathing and press the shutter instead of a trigger. and what a reward if you get the shot.
big lens and tripods are like rifle shooting, or up close and peronal fast shorter zoom lens for rapid close action , and of course skeet shooting with the panning and tracking for flight shots.

Excellent, you make it sound really exciting...... might be tempted to give it a go. I do the same with the breathing mind, and the stance helps a lot. Obviously I don't have to skulk around in the bushes (unless it's near the Bennett's Babes changing area
