1 Spoiler: “The Joker displays a lot of tics and twitches. Particularly with his mouth.”
1 Batman: “Tardive dyskinesia.”
2 Spoiler: “Yeah, that. The tongue clicky crap. Could those be side effects from addiction to anti-psychotic meds?”
2 Batman: “Hard to imagine the Joker being dependent on drugs.”
3 Spoiler: “But it’s easy to imagine him having a high-functioning mental disorder, isn’t it? And being diagnosed as such.”
4 Batman: “I’ll concede that. I guess I don’t have a current list of what drugs Arkham Asylum had him on. Although… I think she only overlapped with him for two, two and a half months at Arkham, but Doctor Quinn might be able to lend some insight to that diagnosis.”
4 Spoiler: “Then let’s ask her.”
5 Batman: “I will. Still, I think I know a product of trauma when I see one.”
5 Spoiler: “Okay; fair enough. So maybe his sense of fairness was compromised by his loss. So he turned to crime. Evening the scales.”
6 Batman: “He clearly feels he is owed something. Or that he should share his misery with others. It’s more than just the criminal act, with him. That’s just the symptom. There’s purpose to what he does, even if he’s the only one who understands it.”
