Another potential scene from the story currently in the works. After the failed tour and four months of peace, the group finds themselves face to face with the pirate group that Murdoc had wronged.Cyborg: Your orders sir?
Murdoc: Keep these soddin' bastards off me island.
Cyborg: What do we do with the female and the offspring?
Murdoc: Get her inside.
2D: Why does she get to hide? That's not fair.
Cyborg: The female is in no condition to fight, dullard singer of Gorillaz. The offspring is to be protected.
Hailey: Who the hell did you piss off this time?

Oh wow, this is good.... I thought Hailey was expecting in this pic! And I love how Cyborg has picked up Murdoc's expressions, something he would certainly programme into her.

She looks further along than she is, but I had to make it as obvious as possible given her posture and distance from the group.
She can fight, but they won't let her. Protecting the spawn is first priority, LOL.

And I find that both heartwarming and correct. I guess even Murdoc came around to the thought of being a dad, even if at first he may not have been overly impressed. I love this pic!

He warmed to the idea, but still prob not 100% on board.
I will be referencing original drafts of the stories for this. The idea that he really had no clue about this stuff and finds it astonishing that the "spawn" reacts to their voices and such. This brings things closer to home for him (and her).

The hard part will be keeping him as "in character" as possible while working up to this whole "daddy" thing.

I guess it'll be a gradual process, so gradual even he won't notice it happening, but Hailey will. And he'd be the kind of Dad who never changes his behaviour around his kids, still drinking, smoking, swearing etc, just being himself, all the time. Hugely great, by the way. I bet he got more proud of Alex's first swear word than he did by hearing him call him Dad.

Swearing and smoking, without a doubt. But as hinted in Celebrity Skin, his drinking has toned down.
I've only got a limited time frame to work with and don't want to span out too far from the events of Celebrity Skin.
One idea that I've been toying with (and was used for another fan fic) was that the kid loves watching dad play and can even play a little based off watching dear ol' dad.

The child has bass in his blood. It was probably his lullaby (but OMM, what I wouldn't give to hear Murdoc singing ME to sleep at night, LOL), a constant part of his dad's life and environment, so that makes perfect sense.

I pretty much see Hailey being the primary care-give with Muds being the one to go to when the kid wants something fun to do.
In another unrelated storyline, Muds gets him and his kid into all sorts of trouble. They hijack Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride, LOL.

Dude, it was prob one of the funnier tales I had written. He and the kid get busted by security and momma has to go and fetch them. Banned for life.
