Description
When Broken Alliance comes to an end, you will probably be seeing more of Eclipse as I intend to bring some more attention to the girl with Blaze so often being the center of attention in stories and collaborations.Essentially, Eclipse is a difficult character to feature in collabs due to the whole Sin thing that she has storyline wise. I'll be honest in saying Sin's initial conception was fashioned so I had a character that could literally go toe to toe with even the most overpowered characters that I might encounter and so forth. My trump card in a sense when something becomes impossible for Blaze, Eppy & Fira to handle. In spite of this though I will use her more, and might potentially think of adding her to the DU roster.
Eitherway, the purpose of this image is more or less just to show her new design, and also to ask what you think of it. I already get the feeling a lot won't approve since she's not really in a bikini anymore, but that was never suppose to be her design in the first place. I was just simply working with what I had at the time
This is a lot closer to her original design except maybe the colour scheme, and I personally think this better suits Eclipse and her personality whilst still giving the young woman a sexy look. There are still one or two things I will probably change in the future should I get slightly better mods or items. Her hair might change over time again if I can find something similar but a little less unkempt, and there might be a slight change in jewellery from time to time and what not...
but essentially this is her new look, and most likley her final change of appearance (minus the times when she dons her casual wear and what not). So what do you think of the new Eppy design? You down with it or did you prefer older times? Just curious to know... and also... should Blaze get an update in appearence?

Hey, welcome back. Good to hear you're doing OK.
I like the new design, too. But I'm wondering: Will you still keep the old designs and costumes for her if needed?

I know I like the new design. Better than the old one if you ask me. Though, this one gives me the intention of her being of some kind of royalty or sumptin.
Still, it's pretty cool.

Yah, it does give her a very desert princess kind of look, but to be honest that was suppose to be her style of attire from the beginning, I just didn't have the bits and pieces I needed to make it until now XD
Glad you like the design, and thank you for the !

I like Eppy's new design and would say it's a keeper.
As for Blaze, I'd want you to keep her hair and the basic shape of her face. I have reasons for this. Both fit her slender, body perfectly and give her a look younger, perhaps, than her actual age. I only say perhaps because of the possibilities in the world she's in and the story around her. So her youthful face and hairstyle, to my mind, reflect the deeply empathic and caring woman and make it easy for people to accept it. It also makes more of an impact when the older woman inside peeks out showing all the pain and grief she carries.
Blaze is complex character full of opposite impulses and what she wants to see in her world. One moment destructive and the other she's the kind of person who stops rush hour traffic to let a goose lead her goslings across a busy urban street.
Her time in the Corporation's "Dark" project leaves her on a knife edge, capable of both great good and great evil, as we all are. In Blaze's case, the choice of evil would have horrendous consequences for those around her no matter where she is. That choice appears to be held at bay by a complete acceptance of who and what she is. Blaze is at peace being Blaze. For now.
The way she dresses is as much a reflection of her tomboy past as a practical adaptation to what she does now. I've noticed one thing, from the side her breasts seem smaller than they appear from the front when she's wearing her bra. This indicates firm, full breasts rather than almost any other shape.
I guess an update needs to encompass this complexity as well as the design she has now does. Or at least has come to. The untouchable is the feather she wears to remember her husband. I guess an update is made harder by the probability that her "work" clothes are also her casual clothes.
I'd vote for minor changes to Blaze's design and stay with character development. As we discussed a while back it's the possibilities in Blaze's character that make her so intriguing as a character. Her current design makes that more easily done. UNLESS what you come up with continues to reflect her inner self, her experiences and changes since she first appeared and leaves open her evolution as a character. Accidentally or by design Blaze has now become about character.
Your "EEEK" smiley at the end of your post is well considered! See what you can come up with though. Even with all I've said about it I think you can do it. Worse than changing Blaze too much is NOT changing her look and clothing over time. As her character grows, her appearance has to.
Good luck!

Blaze has always been a difficult one to update appearance wise. When I first created her attire on Daz3d, it was somewhat close to what I had in mind, but had considerable changes to make up for my lack of resources. The first is the fact that she wears all black, it was something not originally in her design as I had intended for her to be mostly wearing blue. She was not suppose to to wear a sportsbra like top either but rather a full vest.
I made do with what I had, and to be honest, I've had this design for her for so long that it has just stuck with me. Whilst I've easily been able to update Eclipse's attire, Blaze's outfit somehow just seemed right for the character. If I do make any alterations to her attire, it will probably only be small additions like a new waist cloak, new footwear or a different top, nothing that will drastically change her appearance.
Thanks for the comment, I can see you've certainly been keeping an eye on Blaze

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on Blaze and her design. The comment about the shape and size of her breasts is more one that got my attention in that you got something true to life there rather than missed that subtlety that many Daz/Poser artists miss about the female form.
Now that you mention it a deep blue of some sort strikes me as appropriate because it may reflect the melancholia that comes out in her character on occasion. Whether it's meant to or not.
What fascinates me about Blaze is that between the story line, her stats that summarize her character and her dress there's a world of room for character development while staying true to how she's already developing. No matter what she seems to have a resolve never to be broken (again, perhaps?) which fits in with her rather plain hair style and there fact that there's little girlish about how she looks and acts until...that feather. When she loves she does deeply. It takes some girlishness and sense of play for a good marriage/partnership to develop no matter how deeply she tries to hide it now that feather seems a reminder of it.
Whether or not you intended it you have yourself a fully fleshed out three dimensional human there. A bit of a rarity in fiction of any kind much less comic book or graphic novel character. She's tough, a bit too fearless for her own good at times, determined and something in her past not covered in what we now know of her has forged her for that. At the same time, just below that, there's emotional vulnerability and a need just to be accepted as Blaze where she no longer has to fight. Even just for a while.
I shared some of your work with a good friend of mine who excitedly told me that she knew Blaze. Talking more about it I realized I did too, and that included by friend Lori. We've all seen things and been places no one should ever see and go to. Along with the strength comes periods of brittleness. For my friend and I it comes in church basements and other places where we're forced open by the original 12 step program resisting that with enormous strength until we realize we're around people that we can, mostly, trust.
In that sense you have enormous room for character development there, right up to a rebirth of sorts for Blaze herself as some future time to become the Blaze she was meant to be before the Corporation got hold of her. The half messy hair can be seen as a statement about that. They formed and created what she is now but there is a Blaze inside that is reflected in that hair. And and inner beauty to go with the outer extremely dangerous beauty we can see. The waist cloak perhaps as part of a full vest works too. Just different enough that it reflects an inner rebellion. The cloak in a fight is a danger to her, something someone can grab onto and use to control her close in. She'd know that but not give a damn because she refuses to let that happen.
It's what I love about her as a character. She's complex, conflicted and real. And that, like me and my friend, she's been places and seen things no human should ever go or see.
If you'd intended to develop that kind of character when you designed her grab a pint and congratulate yourself for that spot of genius. If not, do it anyway and take full credit for it!

Wow, that's quite a write up. I'm overthrilled that you're enjoying the character and her story so far. I think you hit the nail on the head with a few points you've made, especially over her resolve, but I dare say too much and would rather things about Blaze's past be revealed as the character progresses story wise. I think I'll have an opertunity in Catacombs of Kane to reveal a significant part of Blaze's character, so hopefully sometime in that story some more should be revealed about her past that changed her significantly from the soldier she was to who she is now.
I think what helps her character, and what helps any character in hine sight, is that she is flawed. She has these amazing abilities, and is capable of doing all kinds of things, but essentially like everyone else is still just human, and so can fall victim to human emotion just like anyone else.
Thanks for the comments I'll certainly continue to try and develop Blaze, and hope her progression does not disapoint.

That she's flawed, and who of us isn't, plays into her character being three dimensional rather than the two dimensional Peter Parker type or flatland sort of character that DC has had until recently and still seems to long for.
Unlike most fantasy, graphic novel characters, if Blaze was a real person I'd love to meet her. A nice quiet coffee somewhere she feels safe with her would be both interesting and revealing Not just of her as guarded as she is but of me. If nothing else some 30+ years in the granddaddy of 12 step programs has taught be that damaged people struggling to come to terms with that damage are among the deepest most interesting people anyone could meet.
As you say, despite her amazing abilities, skills and watchfulness she can fall victim to her emotion rather than embrace them, which far too many of us do. The feather memorial she wears clearly indicates that she loves very deeply, the story so far shows she's more than capable of deep anger where she makes some of her mistakes. The two together say she's capable of deep and enduring hatred, too. If one loves that deeply, one can and likely will, hate that deeply. What I've read so far illustrates that's a struggle for her if not in words then on the expressions you put on her face. (When I write a character I find it's not me so much who puts the expressions on the face, it's the character themselves!)
I don't think her progression will disappoint me. I'm sure there'll be times when I'll want to grab her but the scruff of her neck lift her up and yell "you're doing it all wrong!!!!". Maybe not a good thing to do in her case but the urge will certainly be there. Growth as a human being or as a person (I tend to look at them both as essentially the same thing) means leaving things behind and moving into a frightening unknown. No one asks the question "who will I be when I'm done this and will I recognize me when it's done" than someone in the middle of a fifth step. I wonder how she'll react?
I get the impression you don't know either and when the time comes it'll be Blaze telling the story with you, perhaps, editing, if she'll let you.
We'll have to see what Blaze does, won't we?

I really like this - her hair looks wild, too
This sure gives it a sort of desert princess feeling.
Personally though, I think the blue thing on her right forearm looks a bit out of place now with the new colours.
As for your question about Blaze, I'd say have a go for it!
You can still change things back if you don't find anything fitting.

Yah, I've went ahead and removed it. The blue is too dark compared to the skirt. The hair might not stay but I'm gonna leave it for a while and see how used to it I get.
As for Blaze, any alteration I make for her will be very minor for the most part. The basis of her appearance will largely remain the same.

I like the messier hair style. Looks like a kind of feathered shag really. In Broken Alliance I don't know how much time or where they could pay all that much attention to their hair so something easier to look after makes sense, and the kind of things they get involved in tend to make hair fly around all over the place. : D
Either style works for me, actually. There's another interesting thought in that there may be places and times where the older style is more appropriate than this one. Having two, potentially, makes that easier.
