I love the Sonic OVA so much; it's seriously one of my favorite Sonic media. But the ending always made me so sad.
Sonic wanted Metal to live, and Metal deserved to live, yet poor Metal dies anyway. So, I decided to try redrawing the ending! Imagine if in the end, Sonic ended up saving Metal. 
Part of the reason updates have been a little slow lately was because I'm trying to learn new techniques, and I can't really post my practice efforts. However, I think my practice is paying off.
I tried to make the background more believable with textures and lighting, and while it's not perfect by any means, I think I am making progress.I also do need to do more studies for Classic Metal Sonic. He doesn't look quite right just yet.

That's true! I also feel like Metal Sonic needs a "squad" like Sonic has. So I suppose that's partly why they added Tails Doll and Metal Knuckles.

Wish there were more on those guys instead of the E-100's. Gamma and Omega are cool and all, but I'd love to see more Metal counterparts or variants on Sonic's crew.

I agree with that! Gamma/Omega are also rouge robots, where as Metal and his crew are technically still on Eggman's side.

Actually, I have an elaborate headcanon for this one. xD I imagine, after Sonic saves Metal, both are understandably upset. Sonic could feel Metal melting that entire time, and Metal himself is going to become temporary clingy from all the trauma. I imagine that Sonic wouldn't want to ever even set Metal down because he can feel Metal's emotions and he knows how traumatized Metal was from nearly melting in the pool of lava. So you can imagine Sonic carrying Metal around for days, even sleeping next to him because Metal doesn't want to be abandoned.

I wouldn't want to put him down ether. I've experienced oil burns before and now 'm terrified of poppy oil so I can imagine how Sonic is with lava.
Remember that huge Metonic comic I'm working on. The whole " Feels what he feel thing" Is a part of it. I'm so sorry I've been lazy in it. XD

I was so upset at the ending as a kid that I whipped out a notebook and handwrote a long (and terrible --- this was well over a decade ago) fanfic just so Metal wouldn't have to die. Basically, it was a lame sequel where an OC flew in so fast even Sonic couldn't see it and grabbed Metal at the last second or something. I'm not even sure it had any direction; I just didn't want my favorite character dead. lol

I can relate to that! I felt exactly the same way when Metal died. D: I was so sad that I wanted literally any excuse for him to not be dead. His death was seriously one of the most tragic moments in the entire franchise IMO.

I love the OVA. I'd say it's my favorite non-game Sonic media. Sure, some aspects of it are dated to its release era, but overall, I think it's remarkably well done. I especially love the soundtrack.

Yep, There is even a whole review that cuts it apart and saysi t never happen and that it was worse then AOSTH. I personally disagree, the OVA is the best non game rendition of Sonic IMO.

Wow, I can understand if people don't like the OVA, but it's hardly worse than AoStH. Although to be fair, I'm not sure if the OVA is even comparable to AoStH because AoStH is supposed to be basically a sitcom and the OVA is serious. I'd say the OVA is comparable to SatAM.
But I do agree. The OVA is the best non-game Sonic media for sure. It manages to be pretty serious while keeping the tone of the franchise.

AoStH is pretty mediocre, but I'd say the worst in the franchise is Sonic Underground. Between the weird animation and confusing writing, I can't even watch that show.
And I had not heard that remix, but this is great! I'm going to save that one. I love the Stardust Speedway/South Beach mix!

I have to say I like Manic and the Songs but ya it's pretty meh but I think it's better then AOSTH cause I feel it tries more and AOSTH is just random things happen and screaming.

Thank you very much! I do agree that the OVA is amazing. Metal Sonic is written so well in it. They make him seem like a real threat while still giving him a lot of character development. It's what made me love Metal Sonic too.
Classic Metal Sonic really is too adorable. I need to practice him more. I thought he would be just like Modern Metal Sonic, but his design does have some notable differences.

I love how the movie develops metal's character, as well as sonic and metal fighting because neither of them could win. It just shows how equal and alike they are. Β

Oh man the ending of the OVA is so sad! D: Especially by that point, they had built up Metal's character so well, and you could almost see him starting to act independently of Eggman, and then they kill him! D:
That is one thing I really love about the OVA though. It does a great job showing how similar Sonic and Metal are, both in their strength and personalities.

Yeah.. I was so sad when Sonic couldn't save him. And when Robotnik said he still has all the files so he can rebuild him I said "Oh yeah Metal didn't d--" and then that little robot just grab that disc and explode.. I was like "oh DAMN it! It wasn't funny it's sad! Don't laugh!" .-.
