Each Drawing varies in side though they are no larger than 8 x 14Pencil on Paper
*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now ***
Final set of vignette drawings for Chamber of Secrets. Much like book one, it was a challenge not to rush my way through these for the sake of finishing - I'm sure that'll be a challenge with all of the books. But outside of seeing them all together feeling a tad ridged - a result of 3 vignettes having square boarders, and 1 involving a doorway. But I liked how the drawings all turned out. From the first where there's a nice cluster of characters, to the moodiness of Lucious showing up with Dobby cowering behind. And of course, Harry going in for a hug with Hagrid, which was an image I didn't technically have to do, it wasn't specifically described as a scene in the book, but I took my artistic liberties. Yeah, all in all, I thought book 2 ended well.
PS. I haven't talked about this yet, but the sword of Gryffindor... this was one of those times I was anxious to show my version, because I felt the movies had gotten it fairly wrong.

really cool set I loooooooooooooooooooooove the one with Lucius at the bottom of the stairs... such an important moment for me and, also, great perspective!! well, both vignettes with Lucius and Dobby are awesome!!
I also really like the final one, it gives a happy and lighter feel for the end of the book

Thanks so much! The one with Lucious at the bottom of the stairs was almost the moment I chose as the main painting - but I wanted to show Dobby getting that sock and the look in his eyes as it dawned on him what was going on. But that's the joy of the vignette drawings - if I still want to show a certain moment (ie: Lucius at the bottom of the stairs) I can still do it, if only a touch simpler

Thanks so much! Harry hugging Hagrid was fun to draw. And thank you for saying that about the Sword of Gryffindor... mine might not be perfect, but I just really didn't care for the movie interpretation of it.

How do you feel the Movie Sword is wrong?
Great collection of pieces! Nice artistic liberties and faithfulness, as you said.
It's been fun waiting to see how you depict these chapters and I look forward to (re)seeing the next book!

"Wrong" might have been a strong word to use. I mean, it was one interpretation of what it could look like. But I thought the Sword of Gryffindor was supposed to be this massive knight's sword. The movie version was so small - it even looked small in Harry's child hands of that movie, let alone when it came back later in Deathly Hallows.
Book 3 has been on the back burner of life for so long - I can't wait to get back to it!
