Description
It's a mini star destroyer. As usual, recently had a need to rewatch the old star wars trilogy, and then eventually the prequels. Might be because last time I watched them was when i was like ten, and I was not a fan of The Last Jedi.Basically it's a more efficiently designed Imperial II star destroyer. Whereas the ISD was designed for intimidation, this ship was designed as a warship. It's half the length; a lot more compact, but featured a much larger generator (the bulge at the bottom) to power better weapons and redundant shields, all at the cost of the Army barracks and hangar (so no AT-ATs, or invasion capabilities), and general bulk, so more subsystems will be damaged if a hit pierces the hull armor since they're a lot more clustered together.
In order to prevent the loss of half the ship's firepower when going broadside, the main batteries are placed along the centerline. In addition instead of being filled with only turbolasers, I've fitted laser turrets too (in-universe, turbolasers are like big guns, while lasers are like machine guns).
The secondaries are Dual-purpose railguns. In universe, flak is apparently very effective, especially since no one is able to hit anything. So these railguns are fitted to fire flak shells for killing starfighters, ion shells for heavily shielded capital ships like Mon Calamari ships, or standard energy shells for lightly shielded ships or ships whose electronics have already been fried.

Don't take this a wrong way, but it looks as if Mandator II had a sexual intercource with Venator.

The Venator was certainly one of my inspirations, though never heard of the Mandator II. The other inspirations are the Imperial II and the Resurgence classes of star destroyers. ImpII for being the mainstay of the Empire, and the Resurgence for having a more compact feeling, despite being twice the length of the former

one small point, Star Wars has the equivalent of railguns, though they call them mass drivers.
Other than that, you have designed a very efficient heavy cruiser here.

Oh I know, i did quite a bit of research to make this ship along with the other ships I've recently made for the SW universe; it's how i know flak is effective against starfighters. That being said, railguns, mass drivers, tomatoes tomatoes

What is your favorite starship design either canon or legends?

Now there's a hard one. I generally prefer small, compact dedicated warships instead of oversized, generalized ones. Not having massive weak spots such as an oversized bridge and the two main shield generators sitting on top of it.
The Nebula-class Star Destroyer commissioned by the New Republic more or less fits my description. It's a small destroyer, about 1000m in length, and designed specifically to kill larger star destroyers such as the Imperial II.
The only issue I have with the Nebula is the fact that its main turbolasers are in the hull rather than a certerline battery, and thus is only capable of bearing ten of its forty guns on a single ship at any time.

Have you seen the Assertor-class Star Dreadnought by fractalsponge?

I have, actually. While I do like that it's designed for more conventional combat, I'd still prefer the massive fleet of smaller warships you could probably build using the resources that went into that

What about the versatility of the Providence class carrier.
With a few upgrades it could be a formidable warship in its own right.

They're not a bad class, but I'd rather have dedicated warships instead of a generalized ship. Logistics mainly, though I know in SW no one cares about logistics or costs

Do you follow the youtube channel Eckhartsladder? he does some pretty interesting match ups.
He once did a comparative episode where a Providence took on an Imperial II and won.

I do, in fact I joined his discord and made contact with him for advice and critique for this destroyer and the other SW content i've made recently. his community is very helpful, and since I am terrible with names, helped come up with names and designations for some of my things
