Description

Many things were going through Lox's mind. She couldn't fully comprehend what was standing before her. Lox briefly thought of asking if the agent needed any medical aid. That would be impossible for two things. One, that broken jaw isn't moving any time soon. And two, The agent was set off just by the simple utterance of the word what.

Lox was still frozen in place to realize that the agent was hobbling towards her with arms reached out and letting out some horrible moans. Lug wasn't petrified, so he sprung into action. With a mighty kick of a bed, it slid between Lox and the agent. The agent's lack of eyes meant he didn't see the obstacle. He tripped over the bed and fall onto the floor. This event would be humorous if the agent didn't look and act so terrifyingly.

Lox saw it. The unlocking device had it's cord wrapped around the ankle of the agent. She carefully walked around the mutilated man, who was on the floor still trying to grab anything that God knows what he want's to do with once in his grasps. Lox was about to grab it when something grabbed her neck from behind. The two were too busy keeping an eye on the agent that they didn't keep an eye on the bathroom doorway.

Another crazed person, this one was a researcher. Eyes were glazed over, as if they were that of a dead man. There was dried blood around his mouth and bits of flesh between his teeth. The researcher's breath was putrid. Rotten with decay from both his own flesh and the flesh he consumed before.

His grip was strong, incredibly strong. Lox could still breath but cried in agony as her neck was being crushed. She tried to struggle from his grip. Only realized it was futile. She only felt the release with the help of Lug when he came in with a strong and forceful punch right into the researcher's nose.

The researcher's head jerked and neck snapped with a boom echoing through the room. The researcher only stumbled a few steps and steadied his stance to face the two. The only inconvenience the broken neck proven was that his head rolled side to side and he shambled towards Lox and Lug. But even then the researcher didn't care at all. He was still reaching out to grab them and making the very same moans the agent made.

Things around Lox was setting in and she remembered that there was still the agent grabbing at them. She looked and saw that the agent was up on his feet and feeling around for them.

“Nothing is stopping them.” She thought as she quickly got distance between the researcher and the agent.

Lug picked up the unlocking device that was now laying on the bed. He went to join his comrades side and handed her the device. Now that they regrouped, they had a moment of realization. They had MP-40s and well stocked with ammunition.

Lug raised his machine gun and with great precision even for the gun, he placed a round in each head of the lunatics. It was a hybrid of a mercy killing and self defense. A job well done, two hostiles taken out. That's what they thought only proven wrong when the two crazed individuals were still standing. The one without eyes was still stumbling around only going off of the sound of where the gun was fired and the one with eyes had no problem going towards them.

A leader knew when to make a tactical retreat and it was now. They couldn't leave that room any faster than they did. Lug held the door and Lox went to get something to use as a barricade. The chairs in the lounge were easy to move. Too easy to move. Definitely not a good thing to use to barricade the door from the unstoppable crazies that Lox knows the true strength they have.

The two held the barricade for about a minute. Eventually they noticed the lack of opposition on the other side of the door. They jolted up when they heard their teammates called to them.

“What is taking you two so long?” Buck asked. “Reaper is getting pissed because Minx is locked in the facility by herself.”

“What?” Lox spoke up. “What?! No one should be by themselves! There are dangerous people in this place!”

“No shit. Also calm down.” Buck said with a bit of annoyance to Lox's over exaggerated panic.

“Yes. A team leader doesn't let their emotions show.” Ketchup said. “I guess you aren't prepared for the role after all.”

“No one is prepared for the things that Lug and I witnessed. We need to regroup. Retreat the fuck out of here. Report to command and request the whole division to deal with this mission.” Lox yelled in full panic. “We are to get Minx and get out of this place.”

“Well you don't make the calls. Team leader does.” Ketchup rolled his eyes. “So if you want to leave, you better try your hardest to convince Reaper.”

“As much as I hate agreeing with him. You aren't very convincing to me.” Buck said.

“We are all going to die down here.” Lox sternly stated with the most serious expression.

“Close but still not quite.” Buck said. “Get up, Lug. We're regrouping with Reaper. Unless you can back up with claims.”

Now would be a better time for Lug to finally speak up. But disappointingly for Lox, Lug got up and walked to the north door without uttering a single word. Lox silently cursed the mute brute. Without any more protest Lox followed the others down to the main facility doors. Reaper was not too happy that it took longer than it should have been.

“Sir. I have something important to report.” Lox spoke up before being reprimanded.

“Open this door, then you can report after we've regrouped with 5625.” Reaper said.

Lox didn't hesitate. She knew that Minx was in there all alone with those things. Every second passed is a second they could have used to save her. The device was connected and Lox did her thing. Pretty soon the doors opened up and the stench hit them. They could smell the death but they couldn't see it.

When the doors opened. The team saw that the entrance hall was empty. No Minx nor bodies, just blood stains and clutter.

“Damn it.” Reaper uttered under his breath. He wanted to give Lox a glare but he was the one that ordered Minx to go in alone.

Reaper: “We gained access to the main facility. I request to put off the main objective in order to search for my missing team member.”

Command: “Operators aren't going to like this. But I'll allow it, team leader.”

Reaper: “I'll report back as soon as we locate the missing member.”

Command: “Carry on and make it quick, team leader.”

    Reaper: “Roger that, command.”

Reaper looked around and gave the okay for his team to move in. Lox was hesitant when she followed the rest. She kept an ear out, not for Minx, but for the ghastly moans of the crazies.

“I know you said to report it after we find Minx but I really need to tell you what Lug and I encountered up in the dormitories.” Lox said.

“It was hostiles and you terminated them. I heard the gunshots.” Reaper said.

“But we didn't. We didn't even incapacitate them.” Lox said. “There was a researcher. They weren't acting right. And the agent was walking about with no face or innards.”

Reaper didn't listen any further. His subordinate was spouting nonsense now. Lox realized that he had to see it in order to believe it. She cursed Lug for not speaking up yet again. While Lox kept a back to the wall and an eye on the exit. The rest were searching the entrance hall. Buck was the one to make the next gruesome discovery.

“Come look at this.” Buck said as he knelt down to pick something up.

The team gathered around to see what the rowdy rookie found. He stood up and showed them the top half of a head ripped clean off of the bottom jaw. The four looked mortified that he would just casually pick it up.

“No cuts or slashes. It's like they just ripped it off with their bare hands.” Back said. “Probably a demolisher did this.”

“Have you no shame?” Ketchup yelled. “That was a person.”

“I just thought it looked cool.” Buck said with a shrug as he dropped the head.

It made a gruesome slap on the ground. Buck wiped off the blood on his pant leg. Reaper didn't pay any mind to the unprofessional behavior of the rookie. Instead the team leader looked at the two doors that lead into the facility. One on the west and the other on the east. The one on the east marked subject cells and infirmary. The west was marked labs.

Either side could be where Minx could have went. They got their answer when they heard gunshots ring out in the west end. They were rapid fire of a MP-40, then there was another set of gunfire. A Mauser. No one on the team was issued a Mauser. Agents aren't ever issued a Mauser. It must mean a researcher.

“Come on.” Reaper said as he lead the charge.

Buck stood up and was about to follow the rest of the team as they rushed through the west doors. He stopped when he had a spontaneous itch in his eye and he went to rub it out. Buck stopped and pulled his hand away remembering he just picked up a head a few seconds ago and didn't wash the dead people germs off. Buck thought he was going to get pinkeye for sure. Then didn't give it any more thought when he rushed to catch up with the others.
