Description
Okay, I had way to much fun with the last one. Once again using blank space marine templates to make this. The Guardians of Creation are a second founding chapter of the Blood Angels. Some time after the Horus Hersey, an expeditionary force of Blood Angels were en route to a new world to establish a new monastery and Blood Angel outpost when the ship they were on suffered a catastrophic malfunction and crash landed on the uncharted world they would later find to be named Parisis. With their communication equipment destroyed they were left stranded on the planet with no way of contacting the Imperium. They were able to salvage a lot from the wreck and were even able to construct a ship capable of space flight, although it was not Warp Travel capable, only able to travel within the system.
The world they were now forced to call home was completely uninhabited by any sentient life however it did have vast ruins that indicated that it had once been inhabited by humans during some time in the far off past. Among the ruins, the Space Marines came upon a vast, near city size, museum that housed a seemingly endless collection of art work, some of which dated back to the early days of human history. Upon closer examination of the facility, they came to the conclusion that this world had been a major artistic and creative sanctuary during the Golden Age of Mankind. Being of the bloodline of Sanguinius and having a tremendous respect and appreciation for works of beauty and creation, the Space Marines made it their mission to protect these works of art at all cost. They would go on to build their fortress monetary around the museum and made the world of Parisis their new homeworld. It would be some 4,000 years before they were rediscovered by the Imperium and in that time, their chapter had developed it's own tradition and identity surrounding the creation and protection of art in all its forms. They were now the Guardians of Creation.
Their culture built around the creation and protection of art. They view art and the creation of beautiful things as a tribute to the beauty and splendor that is the Emperor of Man and his holy golden light. They have incorporated artisan talents into their forms of prayer, meditation, and self reflection. They have taken to creating art to focus their minds and showing their devotion to the Emperor of Mankind. They view the preservation of art as a sacred duty as holy as defending the Imperium and it's people. They will collect art from other races, much to the dismay of other chapters and the Inquisition, however they view human art to be the pinnacle of creative endeavors. As such, while they will attempt to preserve xeno artwork, it holds relatively little concern should they fail to.
Every battle brother is encouraged to take up at least one form of creative form, weather it be painting, sculpture, architecture or even music. They also paint elaborate graffiti on their armor both as a means of self expression but also to denote rank. Each rank is only allowed to paint on specific areas of their armor, the surface area increasing as their rank increase. It starts on their arms and spreads from there where there are Captains who's entire armor set is often painted in intricate graffiti, as well as adorning themselves in cloaks and tabards that are more reminiscent of Renaissance frescoes rather than what one would expect to see on a warrior. It is for this reason that the Chapter abandoned the red color scheme of their progenitors, in order to allow for a more welcoming canvas.
The gene seed of the chapter is as stable as one could hope for coming from Blood Angel stock. While the Red Thirst is still present, it has been greatly reduced. The chapter members are able to mitigate it by consuming specially prepared raw flesh of the local fauna as well as imbibing a special wine they distill made of fermented native fruit combined with blood from various native lifeforms, and supposedly human blood although the chapter denies this. This wine is generally considered to be unpleasant to normal humans and most other astartes, however it is greatly sought after by the Blood Angels and other successor chapters of theirs.
The Black Rage is also still present although it's nature has been somewhat altered. Instead of being triggered by battle and resulting in the astartes believing they are Sanguinius in a desparate fight against Horus, it is triggered by the Guardians of Creation witnessing the destruction of what they consider to be a work of great art. Should this happen, the astartes falls into a blind rage from which there is no return. These astartes are known as the Mourners of Lost Beauty and are either killed outright, put into the Guardians of Creations equivalent of the Death Guard, or sealed away in the catacombs beneath the great Museum on Parisis.
The chapter recruits new aspirants from the 4th planet in the system known as Italoran. This world is the only world in the system that had native humans, who's society is on par with Europe during the Renaissance. The chapter has had contact with them since the early days of the chapter's establishment as the space ship they were able to salvage was only able to travel within the solar system. New aspirants are recruited every 76 years where they are taken from Italoran to Parisis to undergo extreme combat, mental, and spiritual training as well taught some form of artistic expression which is taught to them by astartes that they apprentice under.
The Guardians of Creation follow the Codex Astartes closely but due to the ever present risk of becoming a Mourner of Lost Beauty, they usually only fight in open warfare with little to no presence of civilization lest they see the destruction of any artwork or beautiful architecture. They are also some times used in urban areas where the minimal destruction of surrounding structures is desired. In such situations, the space marines of the chapter will go to great lengths to avoid the possible destruction of artisan crafts around them, even if that means putting themselves in a tactically disadvantaged position. Because of this, it is not uncommon for the Barons or officials of wealthy worlds to call upon them handle uprisings without destroying the officials precious treasures.
Because of all these factors, the Guardians of Creation specialize in both full line open combat and small, tactical, squad-based engagements in urban settings.

All of them. Especially because of the opportunity to make your armour unique to yourself instead of blending in as another casualty of War.

True enough, although it is really only the high ranking troops that bare truly unique armor. Most Battle brothers will just have their pauldrons, arms and lower legs painted. Also, they can't let the graffiti become too masterful or beautiful or else they risk the death of every Battle Brother, and by extension their work of art armor, activating their version of the Black Rage.

But what if that art is spotted to be involved with chaos or xenos?

Well in the case of Chaos it depends on who created it. If it was done by people they might let it slide but if it was created by creatures from the warp then they will allow it to be destroyed. As for xenos art, they do feel it is inferior to human art but it is still worth protecting. Basically if they had no choice but to choose to save human or xeno art, they'd go with the human. This type of situation rarely comes up though.
