Description A cake with turtles on it!

I used marshmallow fondant for both covering the cake and sculpting the turtles. I then took some food dye, added water, and painted designs on the cake.

I love the food coloring-as-paint idea and you pulled it off very well. Sometimes less is more: the two turtles were enough sculptures for this cake, but the paint filled in the blank spaces nicely. You have a very good eye for this type of thing

there's a show on food network called ace of cakes, you could definitely work for him he does custom cakes and yours are freakin awesome.

It really didn't take that long since the designs are really simple. I'm glad you like the turtles! They were a little hard to make because the fondant didn't want to cooperate with me at all!

aaah painting it gives it such a nice, homey feel to it like it was made from the home i guess... most other ones you make look very professional and fun ~ this gives it another feel and i like that nice job!

Amazing! What kind of food colouring? I'm not sure if I used the ones I have that are all watery..whether they'd work....?

Thanks! The food coloring I used was a more concentrated gel type, so I was able to add water to get the consistency I wanted.

Looks great. Can I ask you how you make your marshmallow fondant? I've always wanted to do cakes with lil moulded things as designs on top and never really knew how.
