Description
The Cute little bats are back to pl- DOES THAT ONE HAVE BLADES ON ITS WINGS?!--------------------------------------------------------------
STAR LOG
Swooper: This is a Swooper, a nasty little bat that hangs out in dark places like these ruins. It’s named for its tendency to swoop out of nowhere - uninspired, but to-the-point - and it feeds on the life energy of others. Most people think that only the Swoopula subspecies can do that, but any Swooper can do so if it’s hungry enough…and unfortunately for us, this one looks famished.
HP: 5
ATK: 3
DEF: 0
Special: Drain Bite
Additional Notes: Swoopers attack by swooping into us or latching on and trying to drain some of our HP to heal themselves. Blocking at the right moment will stop them from connecting; if that fails, struggle as much as you can to dislodge the Swooper. …Speaking of dislodging, they often perch on the ceiling, making them impossible to hit with your jump and hammer. We’ll need to hit them from range or use an earthquake-type move to shake them down from there.
Swoopurn: This is a Swoopurn, a Swooper adapted to volcanic environments. You’d think that it’d be constantly hungry in a place like this, but it seems to be attacking us just because we’re intruding on its turf. I wonder…can it use the heat itself as a substitute for life energy? The scientific ramifications would be immense…
HP: 7
ATK: 5
DEF: 0
Special: Burning Bite
Additional Notes: The good news is that Swoopurns can’t drain your HP to heal themselves. The bad news is that their bites can Burn us instead; guard well to stop them from whittling us down. Like Swoopers, they like to hang out on the ceiling at the start of a battle, so knock them down from there so we can beat them up properly!
Swoopergeist: That’s a Swoopergeist, the ghost of a Swooper that’s been raised by Boos. Despite being dead, they’re just as insatiably hungry as their living brethren, but their undead state makes them much more effective at claiming their life energy meals.
HP: 9
ATK: 7
DEF: 0
Special: Drain Bite, Invisible
Additional Notes: The Swoopergeist acts almost exactly like a normal Swooper. It swoops, it perches on ceilings, and it drains HP with its bites. However, Boo training has allowed it to make itself invisible for a while, which just cranks the annoyance factor off the charts! If it keeps flying back to its ceiling perch before it becomes visible, you’ll need a lot of FP or some special means of hitting it to re-kill it.
---------------------------------------------------------------
ZTAR LOG
Zwooper: This is a Zwooper; a Necrid-possessed Swooper, obviously. Wait…are those…scythe blades on its wings?! …*sigh* Those blasted Ztars don’t even respect the basic laws of physics - there is no possible way it should be able to fly like that!
HP: 7
ATK: 4
DEF: 0
Special: Pinning Drain, Shriek, Lift
Additional Notes: A Zwooper can still drain HP with its bite, but it also stabs us with its wing-scythes to make it harder to shake off. It can also shriek at us to make us Dizzy or pick us up to make us lose a turn - on its next turn, it can drop us for a little damage. As you can probably tell, it’s more annoying than a Whomp on a teeter-totter, especially since the lifting attack can’t be blocked! Luckily, Zwoopers are too aggressive to waste time hiding on the ceiling, so we can focus on knocking it out of the air with jumps and the like!
Zoul Zwooper: That’s a Zoul Zwooper, a Necrid-possessed Swoopergeist. It cuts quite a menacing figure, fluttering through the Phantom Palace…even though I still can’t fathom how it flies with those scythes weighing down its wings…
HP: 12
ATK: 8
DEF: 0
Special: Pinning Drain, Shriek, Lift-and-Stake
Additional Notes: Everything horrible about the Zwooper is only worsened by the Zoul Zwooper. If it’s not burying its scythes in us to drain our HP, it’s shrieking at us to inflict Confusion; if it’s not doing that, it’s lifting us into the air to steal our turns. On that note, watch out if it drops you - it’ll follow up with a brutal stab from its folded wings that’s really hard to block! On the bright side, it’s nowhere near as evasive as a Swoopergeist - try and beat it in one turn to stop it from healing itself!
**RARE ENEMY**
Zwoomega: That’s a Zwoomega, a Zwooper lurking in the Tower of 100 Trials. It was trained by Necro himself to make it extra-powerful…but he wasn’t able to get it to control its insatiable hunger. I kind of wonder how many times it tried to snack on the Ztar King before he exiled it to the tower?
HP: 14
ATK: 10
DEF: 0
Special: Pinning Drain, Shriek, Lift-and-Drill
Additional Notes: Zwoomegas are the very epitome of irritation; literally, since their Shriek attack can inflict Anger on us unless we meet the tricky block timing. Their Lift attack is followed up with an utterly savage drilling move that hits multiple times; block like crazy, or you’ll take an insane amount of damage. If their HP falls, they’ll latch onto us and drain our HP until we can force them off of us - no easy task with those wing-scythes helping its grip. All in all, they’re just as lethal as the next tower enemy…but hey, at least they can’t cling to the ceiling, right?!

Those new names are much better than the previous ones. And those blades do seem a bit overkill.
On the other hand, it's actually pretty funny reading those mini-tales of those Rare Enemies randoming attacking their allies (ie Zwoomegas trying to take a bite out of Necro of all people).
