Description
Woof Woof. Bark Bark. Ruff............That's Dog language for "Chain Chomps are here!"------------------------------------------------------------------
STAR LOG
Chomp: This is a Chomp, a territorial critter with a hard body and sharp teeth. The Lakitus have tamed this one to act as a guard…somehow. I wouldn’t know, because my presence seems to drive them into a frenzy. Maybe they’re offended by genius?
HP: 5
ATK: 3
DEF: 3
Additional Notes: A Chomp’s metal body can shrug off almost anything, and its massive fangs give it a powerful bite attack. You should use a strong, single-hit attack or something that pierces DEF to beat it. It’s a pity we don’t have any treats to calm it down; I guess we’ll just have to kick its metallic butt instead!
Frost Chomp: That’s a Frost Chomp, a Chain Chomp that lives in icy areas like this. Its metal body absorbs the cold quite nicely, making it dangerous to even touch…not the best trait for something that viciously attacks everything in sight.
HP: 7
ATK: 4
DEF: 4
Additional Notes: Direct contact with a Frost Chomp will hurt and possibly Freeze us solid; attack indirectly to avoid being hurt, and use Piercing attacks to get past their high DEF. As you might’ve guessed, its teeth can freeze us too; you’d better guard its attacks to avoid frostbite! Ahaha...ha… I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh. It’s just that I knew a Yoshi who tried to eat a Frost Chomp, and....well, there’s a reason we called him “Short-Tongue” afterwards.
Ghost Chomp: This is a Ghost Chomp, the spectral remains of a Chain Chomp. After passing away, it took up residence in the Phantom Palace as one of King Boo’s guards and pets. I kind of wonder if they taught it to “play dead”...ignoring the obvious redundancy, I mean.
HP: 9
ATK: 6
DEF: 0
Special: Invisible
Additional Notes: Due to their undead state, Ghost Chomps lack the DEF of their living counterparts. However, the Boos have trained them to turn invisible, allowing them to attack us without fear - and being a ghost has only strengthened their bite attack! Try to hit these Chomps as hard as you can before they disappear on us - with no DEF, they’re vulnerable to pretty much anything in our arsenal!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ZTAR LOG
Shado-Chomp: That’s a Shado-Chomp. Being possessed by a Ztar has made it stronger, tougher, and possibly even grumpier…as well as morphing its chain into a full-on serpentine body. I must admit, it’d probably make a popular guard pet…if it wasn’t a Ztar-possessed servant of the Darkness.
HP: 6
ATK: 5
DEF: 5
Special: Horn Ram, Defensive Stance
Additional Notes: Don’t bother jumping on this monster; it’s augmented its DEF with a layer of damaging spikes. It can bite us or inflict even greater damage with that massive horn. Watch out if it curls up - it’ll automatically attack anyone that gets close for the next turn. At this point, you should attack from range or just use the time to heal up and boost your stats. As long as we’re careful, we should be able to send this monster back to the proverbial Chomp House…which makes me wonder if Ztars even have houses…
Tindalo-Chomp: That’s a Tindalo-Chomp, a Necrid-possessed Chomp. As you might imagine, it’s an absolute menace in every sense of the word, which makes it the perfect beast to guard Necro’s castle. ...Wait, is “possessed guard-dog duty” a step up or down for a Necrid?
HP: 9
ATK: 6
DEF: 5
Special: Horn Ram, Defensive Stance
Additional Notes: New colors aside, this thing is basically a stronger Shado-Chomp; it hits even harder, it can take more punishment, and it can hold its Defensive Stance for two turns instead of one. We’d better be careful here; try to attack from range to avoid both its spikes and its counter stance!
**RARE ENEMY**
Ecto-Chomp: This is a Ecto-Chomp, a Ghost Chomp possessed by a Ztar. Looks like the Boos trained this one a bit too well - not even Ztarification could bring it under Necro’s control. The Ztars had to banish it to the Tower of 100 Trials because it blindly attacks everything in sight. That doesn’t bode well for us...or for our enemies, actually.
HP: 12
ATK: 8
DEF: 0
Special: Death Ram, Invisible, Defensive Stance, Berserk, Rampage
Additional Notes: Unlike the other Ztarified Chomps we’ve seen, Ecto-Chomps have no DEF to speak of, making them a bit frailer overall. They can turn invisible to compensate, however, and their bite is much worse than their bark, especially when they’re countering your attacks for two turns. Their horn attack is even WORSE than their bite - it doesn’t do too much damage, but it has a chance to KO its target instantly! To top it off, they’ll periodically go completely insane, boosting their ATK even further. On the bright side, they’ll attack everyone in that state - even their allies! If you see one going berserk, I suggest backing off, healing up, and letting it do the dirty work for us!

No Defense, yet according to the stats, Ghost Chomps and Ecto-Chomps have the highest Defense of the species... Wat?
Other than that, the Ztar Chomps look even cooler than before. The serpentine appearance certainly does wonders.
