This flag is used by the Second Soviet Union's space forces. As the original Soviet Union never had a space forces wing, there was no need to distinguish it as a Second Space Forces in documents and texts in the Second USSR. However, when referred to more officially as the "Space Forces of the Second USSR" (Космические войска ВСССР), it is distinguished. The Space Forces were created following Project Kozhevin, named after the de facto leader of the Red Movement during the 2nd Russian Civil War. The project was a massive R&D effort conducted by the Second Soviet Union to create methods of resource extraction from outside of Earth. As such, the Space Forces were created to defend these new mining and transport spaceships. Project Kozhevin was followed by Project Vperyod (вперёд, forwards in Russian) which was the effort to create battle-capable spacecraft.
