Description The Lockheed Martin executive board looked at promotional material for the Ryan Aerospace entry to the NGAD fighter. The video was worrying to their bottom line despite being priced well bellow 60% of their offering it was also performing well combat trials, while their entry was little more than a ply wood mock up being carted around for display. More embarrassing the mock up was so poorly built it broke countless time while being moved.

"Well we are fucked hands down this start up entry will bankrupt us even if we get to do a partnership to build it."

"Call General Milley tell him we will buy him that island he wanted take the funds out of our employees' pension just make sure he gets us all the plans and data to this X-48 fighter. We can't have Ryan Aerospace out perform us"

"Better yet I will tell Milley to give us all RAE's NGAD data and the prototypes. We have them do the work and we take the credit. Now lets celebrate with some cocaine and she-boys!"Discussion in Seattle HQ of Lockheed Martin circa 2024

The Lockheed Martin F-50 was the entry for the NGAD fighter program. Lockheed originally was woefully behind in the project as Ryan Aerospace, and Northrop Grumman had flying prototypes as early as 2018. Lockheed's issues largely consisted of focusing more on upgrading the F35s and earning more ESG leaving them woefully behind. Needless to say this left the mega corporation in a bad place. They had hired for diversity over skill for more than a decade. This left their company in a position with little sway when time got tough.

The one thing Lockheed had improved upon in the time between 2000 and 2024 was their ability to bribe and steal their way to success. A behavior that for this company had become decades old going back to the first cold war when the F104 Starfighter was being sold. As such the NGAD X-48 of RAE and its performance was easily stolen. With several billion dollars in his bank Mark Milley went to Daniel Ryan's company and demanded all the data turned over to him then deleted. RAE would also be forced to surrender employees to Diversity training.

Unfortunately for Lockheed and Milley, Daniel Ryan saw such an attempt at theft coming and prepared accordingly. The real X48 prototypes would be dismantled then spirited away to hidden locations in various red states, Texas, Florida, and Alaska were given the real stealth fighters which took off from the factory air strip in Ohio in the dead of night with full stealth not to be seen until used in the war with NewMerica.

General Milley arrived and took data that Daniel Ryan wanted to give to Lockheed Martin. The X50 design is a massive failure and easily found on thermal scans far more easily than the X48 design. The building materials also gave the F50 a major disadvantage in that after a certain amount of 8g turns the plane would shatter under its own weight. Daniel Ryan gambled that Lockheed would never double check the data he gave them and spot the many failures. He was right to the point that when many in the FSA heard of it they burst out laughing. Joshua Stone would eventually grow to fear ending up on Daniel Ryan's bad side. Juxtaposed this fear is likely a contributing factor to RAE's growing list of contracts with the FSA.

NewMerica largely used F35s for their operations but when the F50s were deployed combat performance against even F16V fighter jets was sorely lacking. NewMerican Ace Janet Porter attempted to shoot down and kill an F16 piloted by Roger Earle. The dog fight that was expected to be intense ended prematurely when the single F50 shattered into pieces as the F16 performed a 9G turn. Events like this were caught on countless radars and cameras across Free States that bordered NewMerica. Worse for Lockheed was the fact of the 60 F-50s built, 25 of them were lost to turns above Mach 1, 15 were scrapped for parts and the rest were shot down.

The F50 was the nail in the coffin for Lockheed Martin and by extension NewMerica who banked entirely on Lockheed being their key to victory. The F50 had such a bad performance record that when the aircraft was pinged on radar many would complain that they were wasting ammunition in shooting it down. AOC would tie her wagon to the craft as the power of her matriarchy which only furthered the FSA's meme warfare. The USAF had placed many of these planes all along the Russian and Chinese borders their similar design to the FA-48 gave many foreign powers the impression that the Wraith was the same aircraft.

In all the plane that was the nail in Lockheed Martin's coffin had a positive effect for the FSA. The similarly designed FA48 would often be ignored by the SAC and CCP. Military analysts generally did not believe there to be much difference between the two planes. As such not many nations felt a need to continue 6th generation fighter technology. This gross under estimation cost many experienced SAC pilots their lives and gave the FSA time to catch up against their rivals.
