Description
To fangirl over airplanes?Hey guys, i drew something~!
From left to right: He-162C, D, and A-1.
Luftwaffe '46 for the win!
...Shut up, I'm cool.
Paint schemes inspired by Il-2 Sturmovik 1946's Salamanders.
And eh, I'll figure out names for them later.

This picture is beyond amazing, I have always loved the He-162 despite its.. bad tendencies and protest from Adolf Galland Its a shame that they barely saw action.Β

Yeah, too bad when it fails it's entire tail assembly says "I think I forgot something on the runway" and goes to get it by falling off the plane...

Thank you so much for the kind words friend! :>
Yeah it's too bad it was basically thrown together as a wood and glue last minute project that would inevitably fail. :< The 162 certainly is one of my favourite jet designs.

I wish they put more thought into the entire stabilizer coming off and going to get its own luggage mid takeoff... Other than that it's a pretty good flyer.

The only thing is that they had zero time and zero decent pilots left during that part of the war.
I wonder if there's an airworthy one somewhere? :>

There are no airworthy airframes left, tragic in my opinion, but Duxford just restored theirs for display. I hope the Smithsonian institution gets their shit together and makes one flyable and sets aside a template for civil replication...

The He-162 Anton was made in pretty small numbers and only an A-2 achieved a kill (a spitfire mk. IX). The salamander was the jet guinea pig for the most part, including the C, D, and E models 9the Emil had a rocket motor with the jet engine in case you wondered) the A-2 is different from the A-1 (the base chassis/airframe) in armament because the A-1's hull couldn't handle the MachineKanone 108 30mm cannon with 50 rounds, so it was switched to the lighter dual MG-151/20 cannons (of 20mm caliber) setup with 100 rounds each. the A-3 was a reinforced A-1 frame with the 108, almost none were produced. The engine is different to that of the Me-262 in that it uses the BMW 003 engine over the Junkers Jumo 004.
If I forgot something I'll add it.
