At the end of World War I several plans for the Middle East were drawn up, most famously the Wilsonian Plan for an independent Armenian State. A less known plan was to also create an independent state for the Assyrians, a Christian ethnicity in today's Iran, Iraq and Syria, who were also targeted by the Ottomans in the Assyrian Genocide (part of the over all genocide comminted against Armenians and other non-islamic minorities).
