Description In 1919 the Irish Revolution turned into a war for independence. The Communist International saw this as a chance to advance communism further west and also weaken one of it's greatest adversaries, the United Kingdom. The war continued until 1924 and ended with full Irish independence under the Irish Popular Front, later renamed the Irish Worker's Party. The party turned Ireland into a single-party socialist state and at first, it looked like the German-Societ CommIntern had turned another country into it's sattelite. But soon, the Worker's Party under James Larkin started disagreeing over how to run a socialist state more and more. While the CommIntern was cominated by council socialists, Larkin took a more authoritarian approach to socialism. When he would not change his course, the Irish Worker's Party left the Communist International and turned more to the West. In this it acted much like OTL's Yugoslavia, tip-toeing the political landscape, not officialy siding with anyone.

Es gibt einfach klasse  , while many people associate Sinn Fein with the political party is was used first in a 19thC nationalist play, the starry plough was associated with the Irish Citizen Army

Yes and it's been used for a couple of organisations, many of the old members of  Irish Citizens Army helped found the Irish Labour Party - they use it, there's also a sculptured version of it in front of Liberty Hall the head office for S.I.P.T.U. which originated from Larkin's old union. Also it sometimes gets put on the coffin of army officers and policemen as part of the honour guard service.

On a nastier note some radical organisations have also claimed occasional use of the flag like the extreme nationalists  - Sinn Fein, I.R.S.P, I.N.L.A - back in the 80's the last organisation kidnapped someone and removed his fingers using a heated chisel.  If you check Irish newspapers online you'll spot that they're being investigated for running protection rackets, drug dealing, smuggling etc.

Aw come on! Germany & co. gets the Council Democracies but my country gets the Irish equivalent of USSR-lite (Or Yugoslavia to anybody else). That's basically getting Fascism when everyone else gets a democracy. DAMN YOU LARKIN! DAMN YOU TO HEELLLLL!

It's okay. I always thought Connolly was a better Socialist than Larkin, who seemed way more like Lenin or Stalin.
