A bit of a departure from my original line up as the 3rd Doctor was originally supposed to be Toadsworth.However I was always unhappy with that choice as Toadsworth, though a gentleman and very old school didn't have the presence of Jon Pertwee's 3rd Doctor.
It wasn't until I was playing Professor Layton that it suddenly clicked who Doctor 3 should be. The 3rd Doctor was always seen as a cross between James Bond and Sherlock Holmes, and Professor Layton fits at least one of those bills and certainly has the stature and presence for the 3rd Doctor.
Professor Layton is a genius, has a very eccentric looking vintage car (a lot like the 3rd Doctors), and is a gentleman. Plus Layton has an enemy who is very similar to that of his rival, the Master.
Though I admit Layton isn't as physical as Pertwee as the 3rd Doctor would often use his Venusian Akido to defend himself or disable his opponents, but though this Doctor knew Karate he was a gentleman enough to not want to seriously injure or hurt them, just "put them out of commission for a while."
I've left Layton with his trademark top hat (Jon Pertwee did wear a hat for his first episode
) and gave him Jon Pertwee's hair to finish the look.To give him the look of a man of action I've put him in a fighting stance, it looks odd for Layton to be standing like that but as I said the Doctor was a master of Venusian Akido.
The interesting thing about the 3rd Doctor's era is that we spend most of it on Earth. This was because the Doctor was exiled to Earth by the TimeLords of Gallifrey for interfering in the affairs of other peoples and planets, a grave matter for the TimeLords. They sentenced the 2nd Doctor to death (regeneration) and exiled him to Earth, a place the Doctor was most familiar with to act as its protector, and to do any side jobs the TimeLords may have for him.
It's during this Doctors time that we meet the Doctors most dangerous nemesis, the Master, a rival TimeLord who wants to rule the universe. They continually butted heads throughout the 3rd Doctors era with the Doctor winning out in the end.

I think I can see the similarity of when Jon Pertwee wears the trilby, and young Professor Layton from Unwound Future.

I was thinking more about Don Paulo for the Delgardo Master, but Descole would also make a good Master. I have him in my mind as the Eric Roberts Master from the TV Movie.

Well everyone expected Toadsworth, but I found one better
I also wanted to use a character from a different game series other than Mario, Sonic or Zelda characters.
I love the Professor Layton games and I had a vacancy for an Edwardian, old school gentleman who didn't mind getting his hands dirty.

Sorry, I don't see it, the 12th Doctor is very tetchy, grumpy, short tempered and not very kind at all, in fact he can be unpleasent.
