Description A drawing requested by He wants to write a fan fiction about Raising the Titanic and asked me to draw his vision of how the Titanic wreck will looked in his fan fiction so here it is.

I've drawn it from two different angles so I could show more detail of the wreck and the wreck site.

I’ve followed his instructions almost to the letter though I have added a few things of my own here and there.

The expansion joints have been pulled open, this is what caused the real Titanic’s forward smoke stack to fall and cause the Titan to break apart. You’ll notice the aft joint is open the most but hasn’t gone all the way down to the keel allowing the hull to remain intact.

The first 3 smoke stacks are missing, the forward one fell when the forward expansion joint opened up, the 3rd collapsed when the aft joint opened and lies across the boat deck - To fit this in with version of the sinking I imagine the aft joint opened up while sinking but was forced open even more once the hull hit the ocean floor- and also wanted the second one to have been blown off in an explosion which is why I’ve left jagged base parts of that stack intact. The stern stack is intact, it didn’t fall because it wasn’t near an expansion joint and didn’t blow up because the rear most stack on the Titanic was just an ornament and only served as ventilation and as a place to store the passengers pets.

Like how the Titanic was supposed to sink –before they discovered the wreck- the ship lost her boilers when they broke loose, punched down through all bulkheads and the bow of the hull allowing their exit to be scattered across the ocean floor. I’ve also got coal and other junk littering the ‘seascape’ since they would’ve been ripped out with the boilers. I was originally going to add the engines to the ocean floor but decided against it since never mentioned if he wanted the engines to have left the ship as well.

I’ve also had the starboard side anchor come loose and fall on its chain to the sea floor just to make it more interesting.

The 300 foot gash that caused her to sink is clearly visible. (Though we now know it was actually a series of small slits in the hull.)

I’ve added a few rusticle details onto the hull as well as a few scrapes and dents as it descended

One other small detail I’ve added that did not request is that the stern is slightly crushed and the poop deck has popped up slightly. This was to facilitate the release of pressure build up from the trapped air in the stern so she would’ve landed relatively intact though very slightly damaged.

also requested her foremast to be collapsed, her aft mast to be intact and to give the wreck a slight list to port.

Anyway hope enjoys the picture and I hope everyone else likes it.

Why didn't you add the renault town car in the debris field?

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2012-07-20 08:30:12 +0000 UTC]

Well the falling boilers would've destroyed it or at least mangled it out of shape and scattered its remains. I guess I could've added its remains into the debris field.

what would be left would be a fender, a headlight, some smashed car parts, a grill, various debris from the engine, a shattered windshield and a window with some handprints on it (Assuming that 2 people snuck into the car before the sinking and did SOMETHING).

that hole in the bow reminds me of several things:
1: She looks like she was torpedoed there.
2: It looks like a torpedo tube, or cannon of some sort.
3: looks like some gaping mouth of some sort
O_O

Lol, true, that's what I thought when I first drew it.

It's supposed to be where the boilers broke loose and smashed down and through the bow. They originally thought that happened during the sinking before the wreck was actually discovered and was shown to be false.

Cheers

Did they really think that the boilers were heavier than the ship?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2012-07-09 15:26:14 +0000 UTC]

Not exactly, more that they were just too heavy for the bolts and rivets that secured them down to the hull once the 900 foot vessel went verticle.

So when they broke off they would have brought pieces of the double bottom with them.

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2012-07-09 15:52:53 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't have thought so, they would've just broke away from the hull and smashed through the ship, and the few that are littering the wreck site are not connected to the double bottom.

Though I should point out that the boilers didn't break away from the Titanic as discribed above, though some did fall out after she broke in two. The 'boilers bashing through the hull' theory was just to make sense of the noises heard after the lights went out on the Titanic and the perpendicular hull fell back to a shallower angle. After the wreck was discovered in 2 pieces in 1985 they found out that noise the the stern falling back was actually the ship breaking up. Something which wasn't taken at all seriously back then but is common knowledge today.

AceNos In reply to TimeLordParadox [2012-07-09 16:17:58 +0000 UTC]

I think they disapproved the breakup theory because:
1: It would give the White Star Line a bad reputation, and nobody would board the surviving Olympic class ships, fearing that they would believe that they would break in half as well.
2: It made the Olympic class ships look like weak ships.
3: They thought it sounded like Titanic was defying physics.
4: They saw other ships smaller than Titanic sink in one piece, thus the conception got stuck in their heads.
5: They were so gullible to believe in the testimonies of the more important passengers who didn't see her break in half.

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2012-07-09 19:33:15 +0000 UTC]

I agree totally on all points. Some did spot the break up but the inquest was ruled in the majority who said it did not. There were probably politics behind it all to provide a cover up though it hasn't been proven 100%. It is entirely possible that the crew didn't see her break at all and this accepted belief she didn't was simply because very few could see her clearly on that dark night. We may never actually know.

though becuase the final conclusion in the inquiries were that the ship sank as a single piece, I suppose the white star line probably would have bragged that even though their ship was not unsinkable, they at least built her well enough to make to the bottom in one piece.

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2014-02-03 09:29:44 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree, bad enough they lose the largest ship in the world, their flagship and 1500 souls in one go but to also have it break apart while sinking, that would've totally destroyed White Stars credibility.

AceNos In reply to TimeLordParadox [2014-02-03 15:32:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah  but with that final conclusion it at least made it look like white star ships were that durable.

TimeLordParadox In reply to AceNos [2014-02-03 23:01:02 +0000 UTC]

I'd bet White Star also propagated the rumour the the Titanic was sank by a large gash and not small openings as a shipping expert (his name escapes me.) stated at the inquiries.

all this for the sake of keeping their company intact

You can hardly blame a company for being a company, that's what they do, try to find the silver lining to soften the impact of the truth. You can however blame them for one thing, after all that loss of life the White Star line didn't once admit fault nor apologise for the agony they put the survivors through afterwards.

I've added this to my titanic fan fiction. I thank you very much. I'm blessed by this. I'll give you another request soon on titanic in my fan fiction.

Thats okay, I usually don't do requests but I'm drawing blanks on... well what to draw, lol.

Just watched the vid. Never watched super friends before and I honestly think the episode is horrible mostly because it turns the Titanic into some kind of killer monster. (In my mind the Titanic itself was just as much a victim of the disaster as the people on board, to me the passengers weren't killed by the Titanic but by human arrogance and greed.)

But as a request, sure I'll give it a go.

I'm actually writing a fan fiction based on the Titanic which slightly similar to that story, I'm going to post it up here once I've gotten so far through it.

Cheers

All right. Thought I'd ask.

And I'll tell you. I completely understand how she was a victim herself when she sank, and thinking about how she was turned into a monster by that algae, there's no doubt in my mind that she was victimized even further. On top of that, she got victimized to the point where she had to saved from herself! I know how hard of a thing it is to see.

Not bad! You know, with the ways you draw the Titanic in one piece, it reminded me of another piece of Titanic fiction, done just a couple years before she was actually found. I don't know if you plan on drawing the wreck as seen in here in different viewpoints, but I think you should sometime. Here's the piece of fiction I'm talking about. [link]
