Description
This was done in charcoal and color pencil. It was inspired by The Velvet Underground's song, 'Heroin.'
The song itself, found here: [link] has a sinister, discordant viola scratching noisily, through the whole song, starting small, going right, spreading up, increasing, building up, and then suddenly, right at the end, it smooths out.
That's the black, scratchy charcoal line going to the upper right.
The green coming down from the left is the riff, and the blue line is just one word, at the 4:19 mark in the song, "heeeerrrrroooiin," that the singer drags out.
I took a few liberties here, with the coloring, specifically, Lou Reed has a yellow-brownish voice, but the yellows, even mixed with the browns, bled too well into the greens of the riff. SO, the vocals are mixes of blue and white, because that made them that much more visible
The song in total is dark, mostly slow and mellow, with fast spots, then slow spots, and that's part of why it's so generally dark. It's ALWAYS a bit scratchy, and because the song is never smooth and completely solid, it feels like at all moments, it's being scraped together, never completely controlled, which is why I wasn't overly careful with how EXACTLY my lines were laid down.
This is one of the few cases I feel like I made the multimedia thing work, it doesn't really feel forced, the separation of the colors and the charcoal, I think it had something to do with the fact I wasn't using prismacolor?

I absolutely love the geometry and colors. It almost looks synesthetic.

It is, actually, I have associative synesthesia, and that's where I draw from
