Description
You know what's better than leaving out little breadcrumbs to pick up on? Leaving out a big bombshell, but one that has no current explanation behind it. Thus leaving room to loads of speculation!IN THIS CASE...I decided to try my hand at making up the world of Cauldron.
Truth be told, I only have a semi-clear idea of which Kingdoms were which, which is why at least right now, I'm not really gonna specify. Although I AM gonna say, some Kingdoms do bear a very vague resemblance to real world countries! That probably says something about what Cauldron's land masses used to be shaped like! When it was still called, um...
Earth.
And...of course, the reason for its shape NOW should be pretty obvious. XD
------------------------
Still...that mystery world.
As of now, nobody in the story knows ANYTHING about it. As far as we can tell!
Only a select few people have had the fortune of seeing this world through telepathic visions, or dreams, or what have you. Because it's not possible yet to see it through magical means!
And...the only one who has the technology to view it is Little Lima Berlington. As it is, that little mermaid is hoarding all the good stuff!
However, exactly ONE thing can be said for certain.
Wherever this planet is...it's in the same dimension as Cauldron.
And it may be more alike to Cauldron than one may realize.
---------------------------
Curious for more details?
All will be revealed...

Cauldron used to be Earth? I thought you said you specifically were NOT going to go with that cliche. It doesn't bother me at all, it still works, and I don't consider it lazy, but I just thought you said it wasn't going to be like that. Misinformation throws off the "breadcrumbs trail" you know. Anyway, it looks like this other world has some sort of hexagon-based force-field(possibly similar to the Kinetic Energy Distributor). That suggests the possibility of advanced technology. If I'm right, then it seems like you decided to have the tech world be another planet in the same dimension rather than a different dimension available through portals. Are you bringing this all back to earlier iterations of FantasTech?
Also, I still want to see a picture of Marina and/or Melly eventually. Or at least see how you might integrate them into the story/adventures of other characters. I imagine Melly would pop up out of random places sometimes, flirt a bit, get rejected, make a comment, then disappear to who-knows-where again. Like a pervy Chesire Cat, except much less helpful and confusing. But just as magical. XD

Ah ah ah! I'm not going with a "futuristic Earth" deal! Only that in its ancient past, it used to be named Earth.
But during development, I decided to go with that, to make way for this reveal which may raise plenty of questions. I.e take a closer look at that mystery planet's continents...
In a sense, I kinda AM bringing back some elements from FantasTech Beta! But not exactly as it was back then. There's still plenty of mystery there!
Not to mention, been wanting to try my hand at Melly! Might try that at some point!

Yeah, that's why I have no problem with it. I meant that it is still a common thing to say that a planet used to be named Earth even though whether or not it was the Earth as we know it has no bearing on anything story-wise. Like calling a planet with no rings Saturn and never explaining why it has no rings. Because it doesn't matter. The Saturn in this scenario would be just a planet. That's it. What happens ON the planet is significant, but the name of it could be anything and it would change nothing.
Oh, now I see(pun intended). It has the Americas on it, but it also looks like a planet-sized eye. Probably Ziz's missing eye. Which would suggest that the ancient "Earth" was just that, a small part of a much larger thing. Though this is all speculation of course. If I'm right, then great use of depth-of-field(that's what that's called, right? When something looks bigger up close and smaller far away? Optical illusion for the win! Pun intended.)
As for Melly, if you have any questions about her, I'd be happy to answer. I usually don't give a lot of detail for appearance because I like seeing your interpretation of the character's appearance. Being too specific would skew your personal idea of her. Still, I know that more info can be necessary and there ARE often a few details I want to see represented. I usually specify those from the beginning though.

On the subject of Melly...I kinda do wanna know, have you any particular details to include in her design??
I know that she has those two pistols and her Scouting Scope. But anything else I should take into account when designing her??

I tried going back to check what I said in the thing that introduced the character, but I can't remember where it was nor can I seem to find it. But I don't remember her having twin pistols. Did I say that? I might have, but I thought it was a sniper rifle she was supposed to have. Let's just go with the twin pistols idea.
She likely would come from the Feudal Kingdom(her race would probably be something closer to human than animal, but I don't remember if I ever specified what race she was). So you should first consider whether anime has been established yet in the Feudal Kingdom. That would change her fashion style greatly as a lack of existing concept would make her more like a "prototype" version of modern-day magical girls. Traditional Japanese garb, but with modifications that would lead to the fashion of magical girls in anime. But if magical girl anime tropes are already a thing (magic being part of reality would likely accelerate the process of them becoming common-knowledge concepts), then she'd use those but make it her own style as well. No matter what, she'd have a sexy flair to her outfit.
As a good rule of thumb, I'd say make her look like a cute magical girl who knows how to be sexy. Like, the type of girl who would wear a teddybear-themed sweater.....with a cleavage window. That would be something from her casual clothes! XD Imagine a magical girl costume that was made for the bedroom but is still appropriate enough for public. She's about 20 years old I think I said, so you could make her body petite, but her features developed. She is NOT a loli, simply cute. Small size isn't the only way to imply cuteness. There are many directions you could take it in. If you want to giver her the usual big boobs, just make them fitting in comparison to her body. All that considered, I still want it to be your own interpretation based more off of what look a character with her personality and lifestyle would have. Suggestions are not absolute and I only offered some suggestions to get you started on an idea. Is there something in particular you need to know? Like a way for her to store her weapons and Scouting Scope?

Say dude...I just realized something. I think I know what race Melly Magistar could be!
SHE COULD BE, SAYYY...how instead of a Gnome, we make her a Halfling?
---------------------------
Just as other forms of fiction see them as a sort of good, rural folk who live peaceful lives, taking pleasure in simple things, and avoid notice...let's say that FantasTech's Halflings are KINDA like that. Albeit they are far more urbane and modern. They are capable of engineering and inventing too, albeit it is customary for them to create things with practicality and convenience in mind. Or at least, distribution to the general public, which is something that the Dwarvish and Gnomish Engineering severely lacks. As such, they had been a major part of the Wire Kingdom's conception and construction.
They make restaurants, shopping areas, housing, magic-powered public transportation...and entertainment.
As of now, Halflings in the Feudal Kingdom have invented not Anime or Manga, but Light Novels. At least...a very, VERY early form of Light Novels. The style could be chalked up to say..."Belladonna of Sadness", or "Astroboy". The pictures occasionally moving with magic enchantments. In Cauldron, that's the closest anyone will get to anime for a while.
Of course...as much as Halflings encourage a stay-at-home society, they are given to natural curiosity and enthusiasm. Some have been known to become horribly weary of mundane lives, and may find themselves obsessed with a kind of "mania". It's like a sort of mid-life crisis, except it can affect just about anyone who's lived too normal for too long!
One of them being...Melly. Who, after reading so many Light Novels to cope with a dull life as a schoolgirl, had taken to being a real Magical Girl. So that the sexy, sparkling heroines of her imagination can be made real.

Whaddya think?? Anything I should add or take away??

I like that! "Halflings: We never do things in half-measures!" XD Working to make society more pleasant for the common folk is a great idea. Towns and cities could have benefited greatly from their advisement and practical ideas. While Dwarves are making weapons and high-budget things of the future and gnomes are making Magitech vehicles/armor, the halflings are working hard to improve architecture, defensive fortifications, public transports, and common low-cost products that make life a bit easier. I imagine many might become construction workers or at least, plan construction projects and oversee them.
Light Novels could definitely work. Also, stage plays might be able to suffice as her inspiration for magical girl stuff as well. So perhaps a sort of combination of new and old could work for her design. Think "What would they consider futuristic fantasy fashion back in the Feudal Era?" Also consider that they might have seen the fashion of other kingdoms as well. But of course, I still leave it up to your interpretation.
Any specific distinguishing features Halflings might have other than their size?

Mmmmm, not entirely! In that it actually has no true ties to any of my previous series. Not even HSIS. Not even the Eccentrix.
However...at least it can be said, there is certainly something shared between Cauldron, and this unknown world!
