Excellent work.
When there are gales of wind, here in the Alps, the trees appear to me as well as this.

Thank you very much, it is not so windy here where I live, but the cold is more then enough without strong winds.

Perhaps this tree/shrub grows naturally in Sweden?
Wonder what inspires you!!!

I have not found any tree like this in Sweden yet, but I'm looking . The tragedy is that I live in one of the few places in Sweden where it is not's so much forest. I paint all my tree from my mind. I try not to plan the paintings too much in advance.. where do you get your inspration from?

THANKS for getting back to me on that. I rather felt your trees were pure and wonderful fantasy.
Like you, I do not plan most of my work. I suppose I could say that my inspiration comes from the way that
the paint flows ON ITS OWN, how it may create visual material that I can study and develop, thus turning
into pure fantasy. Other than that, I'm not sure what inspires me...sometimes I may finds a new artist on Deviant
Art, and I may get inspired in that direction, but not to the point of copying. I must always seek to be ME...and project my
own voice. Hey, THANKS so much for writing!!!
Regards from richard

I can see that you do not copy other artists, for your style is so unique. Most watercolor artists in Sweden try to paint as "Lars Lerin," it's so boring, I'm not one of them.
I like to look at art on devianart, the problem is that there are so few really great artists on devianart, and I already follow most of them. There are many more great artists on instagram for example.

I'm in The Minnesota Watercolor Society, and they're having their monthly meeting at
The American Swedish Institute, this Thursday...where the museum is hosting a show of
Lars Lerin paintings. I'm not going to go. I don't like freeway driving at night for one thing.
I don't like it at any time...but I just looked at a bunch of his paintings on Google Images.
He's ok...really big paintings... whoa!

Many people say to me that I should paint larger paintings.
I really like Lars Lerin. I like his style, the way he paints the reality, he creates a feeling through his watercolor technique.
He is a super famous in Sweden. He painted many of his best paintings when he lived in northern Norway. He has said that he took psychotropic medicine and drank when he painted, and fought constantly with his boyfriend during that period. He is sober and drug free now, and is married to another guy
Do they do something fun at The American Swedish Institute?

beautiful there is so much tension into it, like an agony escaped from someone's head and filled this picture, in search for wonder..I love that sky too, kind of calmer, similar to viewing the sea right before thunder. Then.. release.

Thank you.
I really enjoy your paintings, but I have some difficulty with that the photos of them are a bit blurry.
