That's really nice. I thought it was real for a moment.

What makes this F-4 different from other models?

many people do mistake my pics for real at first glance! the British phantoms differed from others in many ways, primarly in being the only Phantoms to use Rolls-Royce Spey fanjets, while "everybody elses Phantoms" all used General Electric J-79 turbojets. also used different radar, avionics wheels/tyres/brakes and British instruments, ejection seats and hardware/fasteners. Royal Navy Phantoms also had a double-telescoping nose gear strut and less anhedral angle on tailplanes to enable a higher angle-of-attack for use from smaller British carriers. inlet ducts/trunking was approx. 25% larger,to satisfy fanjets greater demand for air.

So are they used any more?

A friend once described the F-4 as "proof that, given sufficiently powerful engines, a brick can be made to fly."

long gone from British service, phased out by Navy in 1980 along with the big-deck Ark Royal, all RN Phantoms Xferred to RAF,phased out and replaced by Tornados. some F-4s still in service with ROK,JASDF,Greek/Turkish AFs,last time i looked?
