Description
I don't even know. Just an idea that randomly popped into my head and I slammed out in about 20 minutes.Notes:
- "Dino-Fanboy" denotes those who are really into dinosaurs, but not part of the palaeontology or palaeoartistic circles. The kind who only really know dinosaurs is their pop-culture pseudosaur form, force fed to them by the god-awful "documentaries" and books that plague the shops and screens.
- The FeatherNazi's is not a dig at the group, it's just a lighthearted self-parody.

i like how dinosaurs inspire creativity. without misrepresentation of dinosaurs we might never have had dragons.

I think your assessment of the "dino fanboys" is a tad bit harsh if not elitist, I mean perhaps they're just into dinosaurs just for the fun of it; no need to view them with such disdain; by your logic, you can call a casual Star Wars fan a "space travel fanboy" just because they like space sci fi; in other words, if actual NASA astronauts and scientists do not view sci fi fans with disdain, I don't think you(or your feather nazis group) should view Jurassic Park fanboys with disdain either despite that fact that groups of fanboys continually perpetuate common science misconceptions about their interests
I mean, its not like you're(or really most of the members of feather nazis group) really part of any paleontology circles as from what I can gather, you're not doing any research or publishing papers or even coauthoring with someone on their research(though I apologize if this assertion is wrong)
Also, do remember(you probably do ) that dinosaurs in the overall field of paleontology are only a tiny facet that just happens to get the most funding and attention; there is a lot more to paleontology then just dinosaur paleobiology; you can't forget the geological aspect and its specializations like geophysics, geochemistry, sedimentology, paleoecology, paleoclimatology etc, all of which are important to have a proper understanding of paleontology. Then you have the plethora of non dinosaurian(or non Mesozoic) fauna of all of the geological periods. While I do think you have interests in other facets of paleontology, your emphasis on dinosaurs just might make you look like (albeit well informed) dinosaur fanboy to many working in the geosciences ( I know it does to my graduate adviser)
I hope I didn't come off as an asshole, but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there
(if you're wondering about my qualifications, I am about to start my masters degree in geology, with thesis relating to paleontology and also I am in the process of publishing some of my research( don't want to give too much away at the risk of doxing myself, but lets just say it relates to a certain gracile artiodactyl that once filled the same ecological niche as the giraffe during the pliocene of north america) I did as an undergrad in biology and geology)

you might want to update this, or change public to media. The public mostly knows velociraptor was feathered.

Well, the media has been representing feathered V-raptors since the early 2000's *cough cough Dinosaur Planet cough* The only real popular non-feathered raptors in media lately were the ones in JW, but that was because of franchise canon more than anything.

I heard somewhere that there is very little evidence for pack-hunting raptors. It's really just based on the association of Tenontosaur scraps with several Deinonychus, pretty tenuous. It seems that tyrannosaurs were the more doggish, pack-hunter types, along with the endurance sprinting carnotaurus, if anything, raptors are like cats (raptorial, scansorial, clawed, ambush predators), and might even have been solitary.

Deinonychids sometimes hunted in uncoordinated mobs, not packs. When beefy prey passed through their range.

If crocs are any indication, these "mobs" were more organized than most true packs.

IMO a feline analogy with any theropod is a bad idea, mostly because cats have poor stamina and theropods have the air-exchange system birds kept to this day. A Deinonychus and a leopard would have a similar top speed (much lower than what used to be said about dromaeosaurs but still quite quick), and similar agility, but the former would be able to run for a lot longer and therefore still press its attack.
And being a fast runner doesn't make you a pursuit predator. You still have to be able to turn after prey. A tyrannosaur would be a lot faster than a dromaeosaur at parity-but it would be slow to turn. Not a problem in open areas, but certainly not in forested areas. Come to think of which, that does make tyrannosaurs similar to wolves.
IMO droms were a combination of wolf (endurance-not to be confused with top speed), feline (agility and stalking behaviour), and eagle (use of talons as weapons).
And as for the predator-prey relationship between the two dinosaurs that started the Dinosaur Renaissance, here's what Mark Witton had to say about it:
"In short, there are multiple associations between Deinonychus and Tenontosaurus across at least two formations, the Cloverly and Antlers. We're not just talking about shed teeth, either: a number of associated partial skeletons have been recovered. It does seem that these two species were somehow linked, and a predator/prey relationship is perhaps the most parsimonious. The 'ill feeling' towards this relationship...is artistic rather than scientific. Especially for Tenontosaurus, it seems these animals cannot be rendered outside of mortal combat with one another. As much as the evidence points towards Tenontosaurusand Deinonychus being prey and predator, they almost certainly did other things which we could be showing in art."

I think a better term would be "Featherphile" or "feather-head". At least that doesn't make people sound like a nuisance.

Feather-head and featherphile could be misconstrued to mean those members of the furry community that draw or are attracted to bird-based anthro characters.
