Description
Couldnt get this done before the release of EvokeOne VI: Neutral , so my evk buds are probably hating me, but they got This Version anyways. This is, in my opinion, the best model I've made/textured yet, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it..I have alot of different versions of this, some of which will be hightlighted in the new version of Diphix , that's due out very soon, within a day
here's some pics to portray what went into this...
Old render
Wireframes
The ground is all displaced, which as you guys may or may not know, takes forever to render, when rendering at 4000x3000 it's kinda insane, this is of course on top of GI, caustics and all that jazz..all in all, this was I believe a 4 day render, I was away so I dont really now.
as always, 3d StudioMAX 8 & Vray.
Please visit Diphix , it's done!
EDIT: Resized, removed the logo, the scale messed it up, so I opted for a more simple one.

Sweet man it really works! I'm not so keen on the depth of field blurring you've applied though. I think perhaps you should've rendered the abstract seperate to the floor so that you could guassian blur without worrying about masking - I don't think the tip of the abstract should be blurred too.
Nice texturing

that is a fabulous render, the ground looks absolutely perfect - the fisheyed feel to the lense is brilliant the DoF is set exquisitely.
the model itself is excellently surreal, simple yet detailed, the materials are spot on, and it really draws your eye into the structure.
the HDRI in the reflections is lovely, though on the bottom right of the model itself there's a yellow flare thing, i assume that's the sun or the flash - that's the only thing about hte render which really catches my eye as really being off. wonderful image - definite fav

Lovely concept. You could give perspective on the inferior part that's blurred, but that's hot.

hi, i was just wondering if i could use this picture in a school assignment of mine? (if not just type me back and say no asp)
The assignment is about Design, and i'm making a little book about what design is, where i represent different designers and their work. This little book will never be used outside school or shown to anyone else than my teacher. I hope you will let me use this piece.
If so. I would be pleased if you would write me back a message asp with your name (if you want it to be there, otherwise i will just write "anonymous") and also when the piece was made.
Thank you for your help

Surely, I don't see why not, no harm done. My name is James Merrill, and my website is [link] if that's relivant. This piece was made in March, and I used 3D Studio MAX.

oi.that's an awesome render.
reminds me of *Jesar 's work.. not that it means anything or so.. it just does.
I kinda dislike the blur you used on the top part of the work..
but I still fuckin love it.
nice work.

Love the striped effect on the render, was that done in postwork or was that part of the material?

Hey man thats looks freaking sweet! but personally i prefer the look of the one you gave "EvokeOne VI: Neutral". But i'm going to add you to my watch list, because i love the models you do. Your models are fairly random and "trendwhore", but then you add some fucking radical effects to them which re-defines your whole model. In this artwork, there is less of those amazing effects, but the texturing makes up for that! And the background takes away any of those "boring spots" that are in almost all of MY artworks: 1 , 2 , 3 .
I'd have to say that this perticular artwork (and the one you gave to "EvokeOne VI: Neutral") remind me a lot of d0rn's stuff, specifically his "bot" works.
Anyway. well done on getting "Daily Deviation".

Oh wow...this is probably repetitive, but the only thing that told me this was CG was the category listing. It had me fooled; I thought it was a porcelain sculpture. Amazingly well-done!
