when I read Matilda saying "anything to get from behind this corset of a counter," I busted out laughing. I wasn't expecting that for some reason...LMAO man, minimum wage monster = my new favorite thing (other than Cash and Kerry)
that being said, I'm really impressed with your pacing for these! A few comics I've been reading are going on and on and I feel like it's just a story written around the characters...for this I feel like we're getting character development + ACTION! at the same time. WHOO HOO

I find that when drawing comics, if the pace feels too fast (to you) it's usually just right for the readers. I was making a comic one time and my friend was like "omg when is this going to get moving" and it was kind of a wake-up call after that...so glad he said that LOL
