Miku telling me to reduce my caffeine intake at my local Starbucks...Just messing with a VR app I found on Google PlayStore. It's seriously neat!
App: mikupicture by SorasuSoftware
Comes as standard with Mamama's Appearance Miku, but you can download some other models as well including Tda Miku Append, Kuma's Yukari and Mqdl's vFlower.
I'm using the App on an 8 inch Android tablet, but it should run fine on most Android smartphones.

If you are using a smartphone with it; you might need a good stylus to get the most out of it. Some of the controls will work better with one; especially on a small screen.

From the brief look at it, it seems to offer a limited set of models and static poses. No arbitrary models download, no poses compiled in the desktop app can be used, no motion whatsoever. An amusing toy, but that's that. Some time ago, the author of AR Theatre tried to advertise his app on LearnMMD, that one seemed more versatile.

AR Theatre... there's another program like that one as well without the AR element; neither really have any significant advantage over MMD other than they work on your SmartPhone or tablet. As for AR Theatre, that's a bit of a 'con'. Free version gives you 30 seconds worth; got to shell out $5.99 for full functionality. Considering it does so much less than MMD, I'll rather spend the money on coffee.
As for the App I used; yes it is limited in the manners you stated. Having said that, for it can do, it is very good. Plus it is free; except perhaps for the fact that it requires that you have an active Internet connection - this part is understandable given the way it works.
But as a creative tool, it has huge potentials. If you approach it from this viewpoint; it is only limited by a user's imagination.
