Description
A while ago, I was experimenting with my own take on the classic speculative zoology scenario of the absence of a KT extinction event. The idea has never really left, and has continued to evolve. These are some basic ideas for the animals of Seiek as I continue to refine it. These were done sometime last year, so not all the ideas are 100% "canon" for the project anymore, but I figured I'd see what others think. Clockwise from top left:One: A highly venomous solenodon found along North America's gulf and eastern coast region. Their brightly banded tail and snarling fits warn predators of their deadly nature.
Two: A large, quadrupedal pachycephalosaur descendant with a crown of keratin horns. Native to northern forests of America and Eurasia.
Three: A large browsing herbivore derived from the Gondwanean iguanodont clade Elasmaria. Similar niche to the giant ground sloths. They rear up to reveal brightly colored, scute-covered abdomens as a warning before striking with their claws in defense.
Four: A giant hadrosaur, taking the place of most sauropods in most areas of the world. Basic body may change a bit, and am still thinking of distinctive armor and ornamentation.
Five: A small dessert-dwelling nodosaur that stores fat in its shortened tail. Not sure whether or not I'm keeping this guy in it current form...

I love the idea of mammals and dinosaurs just duking it out

The desert-dwelling nodosaur is a very reasonable creature to inhabit this scenario, and it's pretty too! How long after the K-Pg is this set?

I feel like Two could use some more work, specifically on its horns - as it is, they look more like hair.

That's kinda the idea. Since they no longer use their heads for intense combat, I imagined any keratinous layers being developed more and more for display until becoming fragmented and somewhat pinaculous. I've indeed been waffling back and forth on a body type I feel good about, though.

Probably how they'd taste to carnivores too, now that i think about it.
