Description
Not a lot of people know what Hormone Replacement Therapy can do to your body. Not even some trans* women know this before they start their hormones. When going through HRT, you are trying to make you hormones match those of the sex you are but not born with. For those like myself how came out later in life, means that we have to relearn our bodies. InΒ my early 20's I could lift 45 pound dumbbells without to much stress. Now that I have been on HRT for more then a year, and working out again, I struggle with 15 pound weights. I thought it was funny but Trans* women need to be aware of this so that they don't hurt themselves and their friends and family need to be aware of it so that when we ask you to open the jar of pickles for us, it's not a surprise.Related content

It is a side effect of recalibration of hormones, though over time, it can be overcome.
I mean, I myself couldn't lift forty-five pound straight weights, but I can wield seventy-pound resistance. I go with that kind of training because it provides longer lasting results, which is good because that upper arm strength is quite required for wall hang flips...

I agree with the statement that this lose in strength can be overcome with training and time. I have managed to regain some of my strength but not back to were I was. Mind you I am a parent of two and a college student so I don't have as much time to exercise as I used to. I do plan a fleshing it put down the road. The Then & Now series is meant to show changes that as a trans* women, I have had to deal with. This is then meant to show those that live outside of the culture things that trans* women have to deal with. With time I plane on including trans* men in the comic. Right now though my time is limited and I don't feel comfortable drawing something I have no experience with.

You've a lot going on. Don't rush things. Burnout leads to stress, and that leads to nothing good. I know.
