Description
This summer was the first time I could legally go swimming topless. I was excited and eager to pull a trick or something on people. I mean, how odd is it that for 22 years my chest was considered boobs and now they're a chest? Society, your constructs are confusing and dumb.Thankfully no one really cared about my chest enough to start shit or challenge me, but I was prepared with my ID and letter. I also never went swimming alone.
It's a privilege to do this without surgery or binding and I'm grateful. Unlearning to be embarrassed about showing your chest is tough to do. It still takes some inner coaching.

It's awesome that you can now legally show your chest. :3 You're a really cool guy, by the way.

Oh yeah, society is weird... I never got it. Boobs... chest... boobs... chest... ehm, what!?
I have pretty small boobs (say the size of a 12 year old girl? (though today girls are getting in puberty earlier than in 'my days' so I wouldn't know) still below bra size anyway (YAY!)), and I know a dude who has BIGGER man boobs. And he may swim topless and I can't.
Not fair! *grumble grumble*

Haha, yeah. And everybody else will be like "Yeah? So what?"
And I would be perfectly fine with that. Walking shirtless and not getting glared at like you're a whore... what a great dream!

Someday XD Someday I WILL do that X3
And I read your conversation with that other guy :3 You should at least get some kind of cervical hysterectomy/oophorectomy. That reduces the risk of ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and symptoms similar to polycystic ovarian syndrome. :3 I know i'm getting one two years after starting T!! After one year will come top surgery to get rid of these C-cup little balls of fat! Xp

i have PCOS and haven't required surgery for it since i was diagnosed with it a good 10 years ago. i am concerned about the effects on my ovaries after being on T long term, but i also do want to maybe possibly see if i can biologically have a kid. for now--while i'm young and broke--if i can avoid surgery, i will. the T's expensive enough for me now!

You're able to do that au naturale... I JELLY. Would result in people going JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION, GET IN THE CAR if I did that
Good old society eh. Only one gender is allowed to swing the (man)boobs freely...for the other, dear god genitalia!!

I hear stories from transwomen who miss being able to just abandon their shirts but can't because now it'll get them arrested. You see social constructs in the trans body.
Even though I can walk around a pool without a shirt on, I still would rather have a nice set of abs instead of moobs. XD

Mmmmmmm moobs. Common enough at least. Gonna get them seen to one day?
And that's incredibly poignant...you DO see social constructs in the trans body. And then they wonder why we're always questioning and bucking the system.

I'm not a fan of going through surgery just to make society happy, so if I don't have to, then I don't want to. If you gave me $5,000 I wouldn't go buy myself top surgery, I'd pay off my bills. But that's just me! (Same thing if you gave me enough money to do bottom surgery I'd just go buy a house. XD)
I don't think we should have to modify our bodies in such drastic ways in order to be validated/recognized. Not every trans person wants or needs surgery and that's ok. Just like I feel that I wasn't born in the wrong body or that I'm trapped in the wrong body.
I think it's easy to explain ourselves that way to other people-especially cis people-but why can't I be trans and still love the body I have?
I'm obnoxious. I love playing devil's advocate.

Hey, someone has to play devil's advocate
That's the beauty about trans folk; there are as many colours and flavours as you like, and every one with varying degrees of dysphoria or desire to change the body they're in. If what you've got is fine by you, then that's bloody awesome. It just goes to show it's possible!
And yeah, +1 on money for surgery. As much as I'd love to be in the body my head matches, if I were given (or earned) enough cash for top surgery, I'd probably just build a new motor for my car. Given more, I'd get the other two cars I want, then race the race car. Only with complete excess would I go under the knife...dem priorities eh
Properly explaining how one really feels can be a challenge - possibly moreso to those that love us and are desperately trying to understand, than those who are trying their best to be offended. I guess 'Just call me Sir' could work.
