Description
This was a really fun one to do. It all started when I was re-watching Babylon 5 and I got to thinking about how cool it would be to see it cross over with other sci-fi movies/shows. That idea built up in my mind until I came up with this, my tribute to some of my favorite sci-fi captains. (Yes, I know a few of them aren't technically captains, but they're all associated with certain ships, and I liked the title, so I went with it.
) The line-up (and their ships):
Back Row (L-R): Zaphod Beeblebrox (Heart of Gold), Turanga Leela (Planet Express ship)
Middle Row: Michael J Nelson (the Satellite of Love), John Sheridan (Babylon 5), John Crichton (Moya), the Doctor (the TARDIS)
Front Row: William Adama (Galactica), Jean-Luc Picard (Enterprise), Han Solo (Millennium Falcon), Malcolm Reynolds (Serenity).
Again, I know a few of these are a stretch, but it was all for fun. Hope you like it too.

He was traveling around the Australian outback doing pyrotechnics for the band "Man or Astro-Man?", but now I believe he's working as a manager at a Hot Fish Shop in Osseo, Minnesota.
Seriously, whenever I do these big, multi-media mash-ups, I generally try to avoid doubling up on any one property. I already had MST3K represented by way of Mike, who was always more of my host. (I first discovered the show right about the time that Joel was leaving.)

Wonderful! I am happy to see John Sheridan and John Crichton, two of my favorite captains of all time! Interesting how there's only 1 woman captain, but Leela definitely deserved to be in the picture!

That's okay. There are a few somewhat obscure ones in there. Admittedly, there are a few I don't know quite as well as others.

Yeah, it was tough deciding at certain points who to include and who to leave out. I tried to keep it to one character per franchise, so I had to pick just one from Star Trek. One of the more difficult decisions was if I should do Kirk or Picard. Kirk is arguably the more iconic of the two, but Picard is the captain I grew up watching and is a personal favorite, so I finally settled on him. Same thing with Joel vs. Mike for the MST3K spot. Ultimately, this ended up being a lot more about my own personal favorites then a real 'best of'. If I was a little more ambitious, though, there are a bunch of characters that I would have liked to include. I ALMOST broke my 'one per franchise' rule to include Zapp Brannigan, but I held myself to my promise.
Perhaps I'll do a sequel of sorts some day to include some of the alt choices.

Hehe, all my favorites. I have to admit, though, I almost forgot to include Zaphod. I had a rough sketch all done and just about ready to start the final lines when I saw my copy of Hitchhikers on the shelf and knew I had to go back and redo it and work him in.

lol, I know. I actually considered using Gypsy instead since she kinda runs everything, but I figured Mike was more of the main figurehead. But, yeah, he's probably the biggest stretch in terms of being a "captain".

Wicked awesome. I'm a bit alarmed at the fact that I recognized almost all of them. Mal, Leela, and Mike from MST3K look especially good. Brilliant idea, and equally brilliant in its execution.

Wow, the funny fact is that here in germany is a little convention soon called the Captain's Club, including actors who played a captain in a sci-fi-series
