Description Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!

I've had so many requests for this one that I moved it ahead of schedule.

I could simply sticking up for the Baby Bats because I was certainly one of them in the past (and I lot of people would say I still am one). However, I could write an entire essay on why I think it's such a shame that some members of the Goth community, renowned for its open-minded, liberal and tolerant attitudes, can be given to such elitism when it comes to the Baby Bats. Surely this kind of snobbery and exclusion in "normal" society is one of the primary reasons why many Goths choose to reject mainstream values?

Rant over. Anyway, I like to think that this pair are Romantic Goth Boy [link] and Rivet Head Girl [link] when they were kids.

As with all my work, please DON'T steal this! If you want to use it for whatever purposes, email me and ask me first.

I may consider myself, being only thirteen years old, as a Baby Bat but thinking on how people mistake me for 16 most of the time and that I barely ever wear much makeup at all, I'd probably consider myself as something else I guess. All said, great job and keep it up!

What a used to be a few years ago. But it's very compassionate to aid these Baby Bats to become a true goth. When I first entered the goth scene, I was quite in it for the shock value and was in a bratty, hormonal time of my life and kids have always thought I was a weirdo since I entered elementary school. But as I grew, it became more passionate to me, and I think the goth scene is here to stay for me.

lawl, I'm not very old : P (sixteen) not gothic, actually, but my friends are sociated with them. But they're not baby bats in my opinion. Most of them are just metalheads, wearing bandshirts and/or stukapants, and on of them is... medieval/steampunk

Remind we why its fun to quantify useless stereotypes and perpetuate them rather than ignore them and let them die?

this is great now i actually know there is a stereotype for those kids we cringe at. These kids i'm talking about are the year eights at our school, i'll admit we may have been a little bit like this but these ones just take it to a whole new level, i just really hope (tht like us) they begin to develop their own personality and style. I love this series because it shows and portrays that there isn't just ONE goth stereotype and quite often were confused with emo and punk but this is really gret, shows that we ARE individuals even if we seem to follow a stereotype.

Oh yes, the one lesson older goths need:

Don't push the little ones away; give them a nudge in the right direction. A little guidance, musical and cinematic suggestions, that sort of thing.

...Well mentors work in other sides of life, so why not the gothic lifestyle?

I think you hit this right on the head. i've been there myself of course being 18 im still considered
a baby bat in some peoples eyes, of course im much more mature than alot of my "goth" friends.
the whole skater fashion thing doesn't necessarily come in play all times. I mean if they actually skateboard then its kinda mixed there. and marilyn manson and H.I.M. are both usual music choices. I still listen to both of them mainly due to listening to them long before I adopted the goth culture due to it being so excepting and being so beautiful for lack of a better word.

Sorry ranting....Great work though keep it up.

Ok, I'ma stop defending myself now...

I find it amusing that you would describe the goth subculture as one of the most tolerant and open-minded, when they are one of the most pretentious and arrogant subcultures there is, in their ability to label others as well as their own, and shun anyone who does not conform to their own varying definitions.

I love this series of yours. xD I've read all of them and am gonna go back and fave them. They make me laugh in some weird way. Haha.

I've seen a lot of these Baby Bats in the mall. The ones that do it for shock value and will eventually grow out of it annoy me. It's the same with those Mall Punks. A lot of those people grow out of it and follow the next trend that's "shocking" eventually. Of course people can get on my ass about that saying that the punks in the 70's wore swastikas and had shirts with upside down crucifixes for shock value. That was different, at least I think. They were trying to get people's attention to listen to them. Not just to say, "Oh look at that person..." Also, a lot of them are still think the same. They haven't really changed.

I'm ranting. O.o
Sorry. Lmao.
Anyway, I love all of these. Especially the Deathrocker since it is similar to punk which I love so much.

Might not be appropriate, but it comes to mind:

"Unnu fight against upfulness,
Unnu fight against creation,
Unnu fight against everything good
For the younger generation..."
- from Vampire by Peter Tosh.

Interesting to see there's a generation gap in the Goth culture...

Hmm, I recognize this look as coming closest to my metalhead style. Except for the pentagrams. I dislike pentagrams.

But luckily I have better stuff to listen to than commercial 'music' like HIM, Manson, Slipknot and Dimmu Borgir, for example.

Ah yes, I have to admit that I've looked down on Mallgoths on a few occasions. But those were the ones who run around acting like little asses trying to scare small children and the elderly just because they feel so cool and alternative. But I'm sure most mallgoths grow out of it once they get older. I don't really care if they keep the look as long as they start acting nice. Haha

Anyway, love your series. It's neat.

I just hate it when tweens use goth as an excuse to be more popular.....
