Description
Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!As with all my work, please DON'T steal this! If you want to use it for whatever purposes, email me and ask me first.
Been a while since I've uploaded, but here we go.

I`m trying really hard to get out of this hole (sorry for the expression). Sometimes pain creates an loop of self-centrim and sorrow, one push for the other... There`s this code "true humility is not thinking less about yourself, its thinking less of yourself" I think it really applies for this cases where, no matter why, you cannot stop to think about yourself but the quality of the thoughts are just to bad.Β
It`s a shame, and a irony. I wish I get out of this lopp.

I started out more like this (a mopey geeky goth). I wanted to be elegant (tried starting out as gothic lolita; but sort of failed at it) or closer to trad goths; but I justed ended up being moody and more emo for awhile (probably because my friend friend at the time was an emo; but he was more like a second wave emo and closer to punk in style. We did listen to The Cure and all that together). As I gotten older, I gottenΒ more into the Victorian, Romantic and Vampire with a mix of Steampunk, Tribal (I am a ATS/Tribal Fusion belly dancer), casual and trad (I do own stuff like pikes/winkle pickers, fake fangs, tons of jewerly with skulls, roses, crosses, fishnets, demonia shoes and boots, etc....along with some nice skirts and a really nice coat. I was always the weird one). I still kind of mopey at times as I still struggle with depression and anxiety; but slowly have been improving with help. I guess I will always be a bit moody at times.Β
For while I dyed my hair black (some people gave me a lot of crap for it though, which was odd since I already had pretty dark brown hair that was close to black to begin with. I was actually born with black hair, turned blond when I was a toddler than darked again but sort of have natural red mixed in. A lot of my family members have black, brown or red hair) with various shades of red and purple highlights or justdyed it completely red. I stopped dying it as it is a pain and harder to be taken seriously; so I just get real hair extentionsΒ instead though the ones I have now are clip on so I can wear them when I want to but can take them out when needed as well.Β

Not all of this applies to me - but the club description was striking. And by that I mean it feels like a slap. I like going to clubs for the visual and audio stimulation, not to meet people. I like seeing how people look as art and appreciate that unique part of the experience that CAN NOT be found just walking around in day-to-day life (unless there is some goth commune I am unaware of). And I love the loud, encompassing music. It's all sensation based interest and pleasure, not social.Β Unfortunately I haven't gone out in months because it is impossible to not be approached by someone trying to "help you" not be lonely (or much worse, someone with more than casual intentions who see a lone woman as invitationΒ as if a person can't enjoy being alone without wanting to hook up). But why haven't I gone out and just told people to leave me alone? Because I dont like to be rude, I dont like to make others feel I think they aren't worthy or something like that. Because that's simply not true - I just like to be alone. I wish I could go out dressed as I like and just exist enjoying looking around and listening. Look - if I was at an art gallery alone no one would come up to me to try to talk to me. Why would anyone judge club solitude as anything different than that?Β That's the point of being alone - to not have people pay attention to you. So just leave us alone. We'll be glad you did. Not because we hate you, not because you're not good enough, we just want to be in our own world thinking and feeling and experiencing our own everything. Like meditation, perhaps.
Self-centered? I suppose so. I like thinking, learning, observing, writing, making art - these tend to be activities people do while alone. I am very introspective, but I do apply my observations of myself and others in ways that are rational and productive. I may be preoccupied with my own thoughts, but there certainly are worse ways to spend a brain.
I do not want attention when I do not actively approach others. Like right now attention is obviously a goal, why else write this? And the attention hope is that whoever considers themselves goth and puts down this "type" of goth as plain miserable and belittles them while clearly not understanding what the reality is will perhaps consider the various unpleasant opinions that non-goths have about the subculture and realize that judgment of others is an ugly thing, hypocritical judgment the ugliest. That any goth would make judgments about others is a shame. While saying "just kidding" - please.
I am not a teenager. I am a fully functioning adult with friends and family and positive relationships. I have a normal job and engage in normal activities. I am a bright, artistic introvert.Β I will never "come around" to appreciate the lack of insight others may have towards introverts. We aren't misguided extroverts. There is a fundamental difference. But if people want to keep on thinking it's for attention, which is completely backwards madness believed and perpetuated by extroverted people, fine. But maybe... MAYBE someone will read this and come to the amazingly simple conclusion - "Maybe they just like being alone".
Sorry if this has come off rude, but it's difficult to not feel offended by insults from someone who has spent so much effort describing a culture that is so grossly misunderstood itself.

I like your description of them, it's important not to forget that anyone can, and will, have a bad day. Plus teenagers are naturally moody, not their fault the chemicals in their body are out of whack. I like how they are the antithesis of the perky goth, since they very much are. Love it. I just want to give the both of them a hug. XD

Yeah i think they are just like normal people, but like normal people do, they dress themselve like their moods. And since goth is dark already they become a black dot. So i think every goth can be like this for a period when they don't feel well. Although it is a choice to stay like that. I tried almost everything because i like every goth style. But since i started bellydancing tribal goth made more sence to me

I have been asking the same question I just love how they look. I tried to change my colours out of black yesterday and I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror black makes me feel good when I wear it. So I don't want to get addicted to spiked bracelets as much as I like them.
