Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!Because my family runs a shop [link] that sells a lot of Celtic/Gothic jewellery, incense, candles and the like, we get a lot of Hippy Goth types in. And they are generally some of the nicest and most interesting people you'll ever meet.

Recently, i've seen a meme / reddit post about a girl who said "i'm a vegan who eats meat. We exist" or something like that. I found it funny, so i started to search for contradictory things.

Except, unlike that, hippy goths actually do exist. I don't think it's that contradictory. There's nothing that stops you from being both.

I am not quite sure what makes this goth. Hippies who wear black doesn't strike me as goth. Of course a simple method to determine if someone is goth is to ask them about their musical tastes. If you don't like Bauhaus, The Cure, and Siouxsie and the Banshees; then you aren't goth in my book. Just like I would question someone being a metal head if they didn't like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest.

A single subculture split into many subsubs.... ha, with all the 7 billion people in the world, imagine how much advanced culture, let alone technological advancement, could be had if they were all given heathy food and shelter and had the right toΒ education instead of being forced into indoctrination.... if they all had art supplies and the like.. and the freedom to express themselves without fear of judgment.

wow...my friends call me a gothic hippie...i din't think anyone else would have thought of combining the two.
btw the doors (Even though they were hippies) i think are arugably the first goth band. Jim morrison in black pants and a white poet shirt singing on about death and artful symbolism as well as his decadent lifestyle, he's like a 1960's lord byron or poe--the victorian poets who basically started gothic romantisicm in the early 1800's

...im goth.. wiccan.. and vegetarian im a huge animal lover and yes i am all 'save the animals' but you know something? id rather be ridiculed for saving animals and doing what im passionate about, than drive species to extinction and be popular, because you know something? at the rate we are going your grandchildren will only ever see polar bears in old photo's, videos and pictures.

I am Goth, Wiccan, but I believe it is okay to eat meat in necessity, using 100% of the parts with a pain free death. That's less painful than most of the deaths preys receive from predators.

I stopped eating meat when I was five years old, so thats more like a permenant dietry change for me, I have no idea what meat tastes like but I dont need it to survive and therefore I don't care for it. It's all a matter of perspective, I've been vegetarian for most of my life.

Actually, we are omnivores and meat is a necessity. You might feel fine now...but the species of humans that existed when we were developing that only ate plants died out while the omnivores survived. It's a matter of only taking what we need, respecting the animal for its life, and using all parts.

If meat is a necessity.. why am I still alive to this day? My doctors say I am perfectly healthy, further testament to the fact meat is not a necessity. Meat is just an indulgence.. it's like chocolate, you dont need it to live, but we eat it anyways.Β

Of course the doctor says you're healthy. Doctors love to tell you you're doing good so that you'll have worse problems later on in life which will give them more money. Doctors also tell obese people they're healthy. I find myself doubting most ones. We are omnivores. If we didn't need it we wouldn't be capable of digesting and receiving nutrients from it. Unprocessed, natural meats you get for yourself rather than from the market is healthy and beneficial. It's only the processed garbage that not only damages you but supports the abuse of animal farms and slaughter houses. We are meant to eat meat. Many other animal species eat meat and plants as well as us. They do it out of necessity and that is the healthiest way to go. It's only those slobs who eat giant hunks of abused animals in excess and do not appreciate that an animal had to give up its life that I dislike. The consumption of prey is a natural process that has occurred for thousands of years. It is not just a treat. It is not like chocolate. Comparing the necessity of chocolate to meat is like comparing the necessity of owning the latest iPad to bathing.

But we dont need meat, I've been meat free for 11 years now. Stop making this out as some sort of medical conspiracy because the core point is: HUMANS CAN SURVIVE HEALTHILY WITHOUT MEAT.Β

The strongest humanoid species in our early development regularly consumed meat. Β We have not evolved into herbivores. Β If you can choose to healthily live on an all plant diet, then by the same logic I can live healthily on an all meat diet because I don't need plants to survive. (I don't really think that. Β I am just asserting your logic from the exact opposite end of the spectrum.) Β We need a little bit of both. Β Brain development suffers in the long run without meat. Β You can argue till you're blue in the face that you're healthy, but I won't believe it until I see it. Β You are young so you can eat an all junk diet and look just fine right now, but getting older the damage will show. Β As someone who has a closely spiritual connection to animals. Β They think that they eat whatever it takes to survive. Β They don't care. Β Meat is food, meat is what omnivores and carnivores need to survive, they eat it. Β An omnivore cannot healthily decide to only eat one side of the spectrum, both kinds must be consumed for a proper diet. Β So with Β both facts and personal experience on my side your argument is pretty much invalid.
PS. Β I'm guessing you've never had tempura chicken...your life sucks until you do.
