Description Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!

This was actually a suggestion from a fellow deviant. And I'm very glad he/she suggested it - I'm pleased with the result And this was very fun to draw!

On a separate note, this is now the third time I've drawn a Goth with a cigarette. Honestly, I'm not trying to promote a smoking in the Goth community - so, kids, don't do it. It bad for you, it makes your clothes smell, and it's expensive - think of all the clothes and music you could buy with the money spent on cigarettes. So no, don't smoke. Not even cloves.

But pretending to smoke with cool cigarette holder is fine

That always reminded me of Clockwork Ornge for some reason.

Hehe, actually as I was drawing Male Cabaret Goth, I did think to myself, he's gonna turn out looking like Alex...

haha as soon as I saw the word Caberet I instantluy thought of Voltaire. I have to say that the female Goth here is kinda hot. I've always found classiness to be rather sexy, and my own ideal wardrobe would include some influences from caberet style

Thank you very much!

Hehe, gotta love Voltaire! He's been mentioned in two of these Goth Types now.

Ya know looking at all the goth types, just about all of them have a certain time period that goes with them, and I've always noticed but never really quite thought on it. This Goth type has a sense affiliated with the early 20th century, mainly pre World War 1. The Gothabilly is the early Post World War 2, Romantigoth and Victorian Goth are derived from the Romantic era, Trads and deathrockers are 80's etc. In a sense, a single subculture has displayed the entire evolution of Human Culture since as early as the medieval period and as late as the future can hold (Looks at Rivetheads and Cybers). I've always found human culture to be fascinating, and your goth types are sort of a little example of each.

Very interesting observation!

And of course, you can't forget the Visigoths, the very first and original goths

*squee!*

No really, I think I actually did "squee" out loud as soon as I saw this one. This series has always had some fantastic types and character designs but I think you've outdone yourself here. I think this one is probably my favorite Goth Type out of the whole series so far. The series can only get more awesome from here!

Dresden Dolls= so much love (I'd love to find more dark cabaret type music though). Smoking in general= not so much (but man, the cigarette holders are fun props).

PS, if you don't mind me asking, is the Graver still on the agenda?

Thank you so much for your lovely comment

Oh yes, Graver is still on the list... I've been hesitating to attempt it though, because visually, it's going to be hard to distinguish from Cyber (the two are very closely related, after all). But since you've mentioned it, I'll move it further up the list

Ah, I love this style... Have you heard of a band called the Deadfly Ensemble? I think they've been associated with some dark cabaret events..and have done an AWESOME version of "Kriminaltango" with Andi Sexgang (I think)...

Trellia In reply to Kittensoft [2008-01-20 11:04:57 +0000 UTC]

Heh, you're the second person here to mention Deadfly Ensemble I've just checked them out and they pretty rocking. I'll have to mention them in Cabaret Goth Mark II (if I ever re-do these)!

Hehehe cool Also, not sure if you know Cinema Strange (I'm mildly familiar with them), but they've done a couple songs I REALLY like that sound kind of cabaret-ish (I'm thinking, "The Toad Curse and How it Perished in Flames"...eee love that song!)

Trellia In reply to Kittensoft [2008-01-23 18:04:39 +0000 UTC]

I like Cinema Strange And yes, they do sometimes sound quite cabaret. I especially like "The Red and Silver Fantastique."

how about that syd barrett type goth? you know, like the bohemian goth? like the hipster?

lovely work on this one, i love goths that promote the original romatic goth idea.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trellia In reply to Demonotica [2008-01-20 11:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Bohemian Goth would be fun (and it's own the "possible" list), but it would be hard to distinguish from Hippy Goth, or just plain Bohemian - so I don't know if I'll ever do it.

Thanks!

Demonotica In reply to Trellia [2008-01-20 14:20:55 +0000 UTC]

i think bohemians were a lot more like gypsy's than hippies. scarves, lots of eyeliner, listened to psychedelic music of the 70's, not the 60's, ect ect

wonderful work though ;]
