What is going on? Where did they come from? What are they really? Why am I asking so many questions? Will I ever answer them? Stay tuned to find out!
Hint: they are not changelings. :3
I've built a new filter in Inkscape for the fonts, this one looks way better than the previous try. Will fix the previous page at some point too. :3
Out of the backgrounds that you see on this page, the sharper ones are the ones that I vectored (using screenshots), the not-so-sharp ones are direct screenshots from the show (on the last panel, there were originally just 2 ponies :3). So as always, all credits go to the animator team. :3

It's simple. If this is when Twilight first appears that mean it's the first episode, which means Hasbro doesn't have enough time to make tons of background ponies so they just use copies like we see in the episodes. So nothing strange is going on, it's just Hasbro.

Maybe... with the arrival of Twilight, season one must have started, and with it the first scene in Ponyville. Β Could it be that, where-ever the "series" is taking place, the "background ponies" appear? Β I mean like, somehow Hasbro's reuse of background characters allows "copies" to leak in?
