They weaved the tokotas through the thicket of trees, as the light overhead dimmed. Deeper into the tall trees, the forest seemed to close behind them, as they walked in single file. Branches brushed up against Eska and Algernon, and he found himself having to duck as they came to lower-hanging boughs. Eska began to hum a small tune as Shelly ranged ahead of him before finally actually starting to sing.

"What are you doing?" Shelly turned to ask, having to raise her voice, though she had stopped.

"Bears." Eska shouted back, lifting his arms in mimicry. "They don't like to be surprised hahaha! What are we looking for again?"

"There are some structures along the path. Some big, some small. To show us the way." Shelly answered, moving up Max's pace.

Eska followed in suit, urging Algernon forward, along the deer-trail. As he caught up, he could feel the day was warming up, despite the perpetual shade. The sweat dripped down his chest and arms, and he could tell Algernon was feeling the heat, uncommon for the region. The smells of the forest were also amplified by it. Max's pale orange form suddenly appeared closer and closer as they approached, and he realized that they had stopped for a reason. Shelly's male had bent his head, the orange rainmarks of his main visible as he lapped at the still, grey-blue water. Eska dismounted, and pulled off his shirt and splashed water from the stream over his neck, wetting the shirt, thankful for the sudden breath of air and the relief from the heat. Algernon gingerly stepped into the water, seeking the same comfort of his owner. Eska saw a strange shaped rock-formation before them, almost escaping his notice. The pile was covered, overgrown by thick green moss. But it was unmistakably man-made.

"Is that what we're looking for?"
