Description “Awooooo”
Kali flicked her ears, her head held high. Normally the cries of a wolfpack didn't bother her, only in very big numbers a pack of wolves would mean danger to her, but even in those cases the smaller predators gave her a wide berth. It wasn't just the extended dun dire female’s sharp teeth that was dangerous, it was her large and well equipped front paws as well. Many were the caribous that had been swiped and fallen out of pure shock by the blow alone. The call came again, a little more urgent but not having the maturity of an adult wolf.

The dire snorted as the twolegged on her back petted her neck. Tana had made the trap close shut with the help of a big dry branch. No animal would get trapped in that - for now. While being a hunter herself there was no respect towards the animal itself nor the spirits by ‘hunting’ in this way. It only fed pain and greed...as well as the dark spirits. The woman had spoken a few words in her own tongue over the contraption, asking the spirits to keep it shut.

Quickening her pace the dire continued forward, feeling the pull of the call that sounded again. This time a little weaker, like whoever was making the call was beginning to give up. Kali scented the blood first, then she spotted two dark bodies, one small and one larger. Wolf. The larger had a dark large stain on it's otherwise blonde coated shoulder. Eyes stared blankly up at her, unseeing. Kali didn't eat other predators unless she was starving and she was far from it now. It was from the smaller the sound had come. The youngster was the size of her paw. Or there about. The pup froze as it saw them, trying to cover against the stiff body of it's mother. Something was stirred in the dire. A connection. She used the call all tokota mothers used to call on their own pups. Perhaps it was the same - or at least similar to the ones wolves used because the little wolf raised it's head and scented the air..

When Kali called on the pup the next time it tilted it's head slightly, listening. It wasn't until she called a third time, and after hesitating on leaving it's dead mother, the pup came up to then. Kali chuffed softly. The pup glanced back at the prone body, and a sad little “awoo” came from it's slightly uplifted snout. Kali shifted, felt the urge within her grow. She bent down and took the pup in his mouth. For something so large and otherwise brutal looking the mouth filled with many sharp fangs, the grasp that held the pup wouldn't even leave an indent on the twoleggeds skin.

Tana let Kali take care of the wolf pup as her own. The only thing the dire female couldn't to was to give it milk, but the woman soon discovered that the pup was in that age when it had started to feed on meat. That made things easier. To help with the transition she cut the meat in small pieces and mixed it with some broth. Everything else, like cleaning the pup up, the dire handled very well. The small pup had been skittish around Tana at first, and while preferring to be close to the dire, it had at least sniffed the woman's outstretched hand. Tana simply smiled. Whatever things the spirits had in store for this pup, the least she could do was to help it with what she could.

You bring out the massiveness of the dire-build so beautifully.  Not to mention, that wolf cub is utterly adorable!
