Description I was trying to find a stamp like this. I was surprised I couldn't find any. .-.

I can't fathom how many times I've spent days and weeks and forever's time on an art trade, and then they go and bullshit their half or don't do it at all. I've had to wait over a year for things sometimes, and still are. I'm not expecting trades to be done in a few days or weeks, I know how it feels, you can't stay pinned on art, or at least one piece, but seriously, over a year?

If I'm going to spend 7 hours on a picture, don't spend 5 minutes. Some of my best pieces were art trades, and a lot of the time I get a quickly colored sketch in return, or with some, nothing at all yet. :/ It really gets on my nerves, that's why I stopped taking as many art trades. I get gypped, and then the people forsake me and play the lying game saying "What art trade?" and other variants.

I'm not going to point fingers, I'm just speaking my mind.

It's...a pet peeve. Also the reason why I specify my art trades a bit. I mean, in exaggerated comparison, would you really trade a Da Vinci or something for a stick figure?

That's how it feels some time, just in simplified standards.

Feel free to say your thoughts, but hopefully you understand the point of mine.

I used MS paint for this since I don't have any decent programs. If anyone wants to make a prettier version, lemme know. Just don't like...take the stamp verbatim and call it yours. :I

It happens to me a lot x_x I seem to have bad luck, it discourages me from doing trades with people now :/ I once spent over 5 hours on a piece and the other person looked like they barely put in 30 minutes. Didn't post it either, just linked me to photobucket or something. Usually there are like 50 things wrong with my characters too. Drives me nuts. e_e

Now, if I ever do art trades, I make sure that the person I am doing it with (mostly hardcore friends) is sure they will put their part.Ā

Ā I didn't even post up my part either, so I just printed it out and gave it to my great-aunt x'D Ā I mean, I even told off that deviant on how lazy she must have been, so it totally shattered my trust with her though :/ Ā I really hate it when people throw different curves at you just to get away from a problem e3e

I try to, but words can only be trusted so much by certain people. eAe

Ha, nice xD I've been tempted to not post my part until they finish theirs, but I always feel like I'll see all the bad things in my part by the time the other person posts and I'll feel like redoing it |D

Indeed that happens a ton of times with people Dx

I hate it the most when they think that I've cheated them out of the art-trade as if I was the bad person, and I just stand there reading the message like " what?"Ā

Yes, sadly so :'<

Sadness T__T I guess some people can't help but defend themselves. Reminds me of a real life friend, though it's not art related. She just.....ugh, she'll change things/plans last minute and everyone gets mad but she thinks she's done nothing wrong and that it's our fault e_eĀ

Thanks for making this stamp, I'm gonna use it if that's okay.
This has happened to me before, where I spend for freaking ever on an art trade, adding detail, trying to pick exactly the right colors, doing exactly what they asked, and making it perfect....only to get one in return that looks like they drew something as fast as possible and then used the paint bucket to fill it in.

Also, I get taking a really long time, I mean people get busy and sometimes it's good for you to work on personal stuff at the same time, but when I've waited forever and all I see is their personal art, I do start to get a tad annoyed.

Sorry for the long rant, I just needed to

TwilitTiger In reply to Angelwolf92 [2013-01-23 21:32:46 +0000 UTC]

Feel free to!

It upsets me when people do just scribbles in return, even more so when I have visions of what my character would look like in their style, and it's just a doodle that's pretty off in design. :/ I don't mind people taking a while, as long as I know what's up and it's for a good reason. Sometimes I think I'm just excommunicated from the person. -.-

Angelwolf92 In reply to TwilitTiger [2013-01-23 21:39:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I mean I'll pretty much accept an art trade from anyone, as long as I know they did the best they could possibly do. If I can see art in their gallery that is obviously a thousand times better than their half of their art trade, that's when I actually get a little pissed and make a note never to trade with them again

TwilitTiger In reply to Angelwolf92 [2013-01-23 21:43:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, likewise. Though since I'm pretty limited in time, I can't be as willing to take art trades from anyone Dx I try to make it up with little requests for all people, though!

CaptainRexSinatra [2012-02-18 19:23:56 +0000 UTC]

I think it depends on how good the artist is. If the artist is REALLY good and his trade is like a drawing that took like 2 seconds to do then I'm really pissed. But if it was a drawing that an inexperienced artist did and they try to do their best then i'll accept it.

That being said, if you ever decide to open trades up again, I'd love to do one with you sometime.

Also, the watercolor pieces you have featured are beautiful.

CureStar [2011-11-12 15:26:42 +0000 UTC]

I agree. The artist puts a ton of effort and they take time from their day to draw the other person's request. Then the other person draws something from scratch or a base that took 5 minutes or so.

That's just taking advantage of the artist. It's kind of like if if you made something that took you weeks and you were selling it for $50 and I bought it. And I would tell you I'll pay you next time, and after weeks and weeks of waiting, I gave you a quarter.

Not really a good example but you know what I mean

Sadly, yes ;_;
I think I'm going to start asking people how far they tend to go with it so I know how much effort to put in it ._.
Like I need to know if they plan on shading and what the background will be like so I don't overdo it

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 0

Blackwolfraptor [2011-08-08 07:08:04 +0000 UTC]

THIS.
I don't spend hours actually. I spend days, or even weeks to finish just one , because of finding time to do so. But I do put effort into it, trying to make it as accurate as possible. its really frustrating when you try to find the right colour and when you do something wrong, you can't redo it. ( traditional art xD) And when we end up posting it, the other half is just, you know.
I wish people would put more effort in everything.

I often have trades with younger and unexperienced artists, but then I don't judge by how good their artwork is compared to mine, but by how it looks compared to their other artworks and how much effort was put into it. Usually it's still quite good then
But yeah, if someone would just do a quick scribble when I put a lot of effort into it, I would me disappointed too.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

TwilitTiger In reply to Vuurstern [2011-08-06 16:36:19 +0000 UTC]

That's nice of you though, novice artists don't really get a lot of encouragement from others these days :< That's good to hear that they're putting their best effort in it though!

Vuurstern In reply to TwilitTiger [2011-08-06 16:43:24 +0000 UTC]

I just don't like to refuse, and besides, it's nice to see how they try to do their best
And usually it helps them to get more confident of themselves when they see that other people want to see their art.

I definitely agree with you..Sometimes I work only 4-5 hours (which is alot to me though D and they just do like...a tiny drawing in the middle and I take the space and shading,..They also don't do shading XD.But same for commissions sort of, once I got ripped off well I worked on an animation for 8 hours and they just commented it saying "Nice" And it's been a year and they still won't listen to me and won't pay me back..(so many ands..Sorry)
