Description
Finally a chance to get some personal work in. About 3 hours on this. Trying to make a photo-realistic star field. Probably needs more galaxies or something, but I'd say its a pass.All made from scratch Photoshop
No photos or brush packs.

Good work, definitely on the right track and one of the better examples of a realistic star-field from scratch. I would crit the lack of galaxies and 'warps', sameness of shapes and the rather flat background noise. Also the colours strike me as too zany.

I have shown your work to a friend who is getting into space-art, and he was blown away by what he saw.
He has asked me to ask you how you get your stars just right, and if you have any tips for a budding space artist. He would have asked himself but he has somehow made his computer incompatible with the internet and email, just don't ask me how (I won't met him near mine in case lightning strikes twice). I will pass on any hints you are willing to share.

Very good, but don't make so many of the stars have that "cross" over them. It makes the picture look just that slight bit fake. The clashing colors look amazing, though! Keep up the good work!

Do you ever get tired of only doing space things? I mean really... I understand that each is a little different, but there is only so much that you can change. I am not hating on your art, but you could at least try something else for once...

Yeah I know what you mean. I've got about 4 photomanips in the working. All of them are gonna be space/scifi themed but they'll include a lot more elements than just space. This was just something I really wanted to do at like 12:30am so I just finished it and uploaded it. Plus I haven't done such a vast star field before. It was good practice for future projects.

Oh, and I just wanted to add: I saw someone say this wasn't particularly realistic, and I have to disagree; it reminds me very strongly of a photograph I saw from the Hubble Space Telescope—which for the love of pete I cannot find anymore! BUT it was the photo I used as reference for this drawing:
Which, if you look at it in a broad, stylistic way, shares some elements with your painting.
