the sense of space and dust is quite captivating!

What an eerie picture...its almost detailed enough to be a photograph. The lack of color adds to the unsettling feeling, and the style of the house is exactly what you would expect in a 'haunted house' for lack of a better word. I loved the mysterious figure on the stairs... you can almost make out a face on its head. The lighting is incredible too...doing such detailed lighting in shades of grey is no easy feat. I'm quite impressed.

I spilt vegetable soup on my keyboard, but it's a laptop and I'm too noobish to know how/if I can take it off and clean it/get a new one. It was only on the 'F' buttons at the top, so I think I'll wait and see if I lose any more important buttons. I already have an 'R' button I need to slam everytime I want to use it =/
Firstly, this is a good, moody/atmospheric piece
Yes, it could do with some touch-ups, but you've already said it's a WIP/Base on which you're going to expand on. (and I'm the same with the 'drawing+winter illness = do it later or it'll look lame', I've got a cold and it feels like my face needs to fall off, and I tried going to work like this but I got beaten up by my own drawing and decided to have a couple of days recovery time. Sickness and drawing doesn't work if it's affecting your head. Anyways, back with the constructive critisism)
Right, instead of saying 'this is what you should do', because I hate it when people say that to me, I'm going to make a few suggestions as to what I'd do to it if it were mine.
1, I'd put a bit of detailing on those banisters, sort of like this [link] . I wouldn't use anything massively detailed, just something interesting for the window light to bounce off. It's more on the corner of the stairs where it'd be noticed, of the rest of the banisters, you can do it in less detail so the viewer's eyes drawn to where everything is happening. (I found this was a good way of getting an idea across without having to completely finish the whole drawing, good if you're on a time limit)
2, depending on if this was an abandoned or currently habited house, I'd add some fabric to reflect that - tattered and sun-bleached (where the sunlight could stream in though the holes) or well-kept curtains, worn and threadbare or recently cleaned stair-carpet (see that picture above where the carpet just goes down the middle) and maybe a hall-way rug that's mouldering or one that's just been beaten.
3, this is more something for when you do you next piece, but the perspectives a little bit off (pff, like I can talk, I'm that bad at perspective, I loosely model what I need in 3DSMax and use that as a template... but, I'm pointing this out because I a) noticed it and b) know that if I tell you now, you'll sort it out for the next piece)
I noticed it on the bottom floor, the sort of upside-down V shape that makes the 'corner' there the two walls meet is too 'flat' it needs to be pointier. Gah, it'd make more sense if I could draw what I mean, but I'm currently tablet, scanner, and webspace-less, so I can't...
I'll try again. Basically, if you could affect just the walls of the picture, grab the far right edge and the far left edge and pull them down a bit while leaving the corner where they meet, that'd sort it out. Does that make sense?
Right, that's my contribution, I'm going back to being ill =/ I hope that helps in some way, I don't usually give feedback in images because I write too much and usually just get a little confusing :S
Anyhoo, I hope you're feeling better soon, and good luck with that application

This is a great picture. I like the atmosphere, and the perspective looks pretty solid.
