Description
NOTE: GIF Test. May not work initially.Hey, everyone. I'm currently taking different college multimedia courses this year; chief among them involve the beloved program, Blender. What I got now is a working procedure to convert a Spore creature to Collada format, convert it to OBJ format for Blender, recolor and animate, and finally convert to GIF format.
For this GIF, I have a work-in-progress that I like to call a Dream Eater, a sort of polar opposite of my other idea, the Dream Catcher. Both fan-based creations are loosely based on the web comic "Dreamkeepers." I wanted to make Dream Eaters a sort of supernatural entities stuck between the Dreamkeeper world's plane and a spiritual plane of existence. The resulting image makes them theoretically solid in form yet transparent, energetically charged, and ghostly. I wanted to make it just as unsettling and intimidating as the Nightmares but more distinct in appearance and tactics.
Hopefully after the semester, I will learn enough Blender basics to re-rig the models from scratch. Hopefully. Stay tuned for more college projects.
Update
Well. After some more digging, I have come to the conclusion that the one reliable way to fix my texture issue with Blender is using version 2.56 beta. Yeaaahh. Sort of.
As far as I could tell, 2.56 beta maps the textures correctly on SOME of my creations; the others are less accurate. What I don't get is the fact that, after I save the model and the base texture on the beta, the data carries over to version 2.68 with little issues. Even though when I tried to map the same texture on 2.68 it does not map correctly, period. Shrugging my shoulders here.
All that aside, I manage to properly skin my model here; it's texture's mapping is mostly correct, I guess. Also got the lighting to work. I did boost the size and resolution of the GIF file. Maybe too much for the internet to handle. Sorry.

The light is way too weak. I cannot see anything. Sorry...

All the more reason why you should keep a 12-guage shotgun under your pillow at night.
Seriousness, this is not exactly something I can simply go back and fix right now. Blasted piece took a few days to get it done. And on top of that, I am aware that the animation WILL look too dark for some computer screens; mine, in particular, has twice the brightness of the four older computers in my house.
With some more insight into Blender, I think I can go several steps further with this model; but right now, its not in the cards.

I've never modeled anything, but maybe... Try adding "light-bulbs". More light sources. Hopefully this will be brighter.
