I'm not happy with this one yet, and i plan on making some alterations. I want to add some eyes to the purple blob things (I was having trouble, they kept winding up looking super goofy), And I plan on making some tweaks on samus like adding some subtle muscle definition. But i have other projects that i have to work on so this'll have to do for now. Plan on seeing more Metroid art from me in the future!
I really don't care for the official Zero Suit design, It comes off as being too sexual for a character like Samus to be wearing, So i tried making it more like an Exoskeletal plug suit similar to a Chozo's exoskeleton. I kept it sleeveless though because i think it makes her look tougher, I was taking some inspiration from the suit she wore in the Super Metroid Nintendopower comic.

I just played through the first game the other day, and I just keep forgetting how good it is. I mean, I've always loved its aesthetic the most out of the entire series, but it's actually a damn good game to boot. Probably the best, after Super (in the original 2d series). Played through it twice in the course of a few hours actually, haha.

It's really nice to know that there's lovely art that recognizes Samus's 30th anniversary coming this year, and that I like along with the details. Β It's disappointing that Nintendo isn't likely to acknowledge said anniversary like they do with their 2 popular franchises and Pokemon.
Well, it's certainly a nice different approach to the outfit, which is actually something new to me, and I also like it. Β All in all, great work!

Thanks! And unfortunately it seems like Nintendo doesn't care about Metroid these days, They couldn't even be bothered to celebrate it's 25th anniversary either. It's sad. I feel like the series would be in good hands if it were handed back over to Retro Studios, I'd really love to see them do a side scrolling Metroid game!

You're most welcome! Β That's how I feel bout Kid Icarus too. Β I wish Nintendo would at least acknowledge its 30th anniversary (December 19th is the date for this year), but it has lower chances of being recognized compared to Metroid. Β It's always Zelda, Zelda, Zelda, to take the spotlight as all 3 of the franchises have the same anniversary in the same year. Β Sigh... Both Metroid and Kid Icarus deserve more respect than what they've been getting lately.

And I agree about what you said about the Zero Suit. They need to ditch it in future games because it's ruining her character. I want them to go back to the ending outfits from the older games. Also, Samus should have muscles again like she did in Super Metroid's best ending.

Thanks! And yeah, The Zero suit is probably one of the worst additions Nintendo has made to a franchise. I don't think anyone looks at it and thinks- Bounty Hunter. I never really had a problem with her more revealing clothes at the end of the 2D games. Mainly because since you had gone through the entire game (or games) with her before seeing those, So by the end of the game the Player viewed her as a warrior, not a sex object. Plus since they were portrayed through sprites it was all a lot more innocent, whereas now it's gotten creepy with the zero suit. A lot of that has to do with all of the creepy fan art on the Internet, But Zero Missions Promo art, and all of Other M certainly share a large portion of the blame. I totally agree with you on the Muscles, that's one of the things i'm planning on adding.

Yeah. Also, the Zero Suit fetish art is getting outta hand, much like what happened after Wii Fit Trainer was confirmed to be playable in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS, due to all the Rule 34 crap.

Yeah, it's ironic given Samus' place in history as being one of the first (if not THE first) female character in a lead role who wasn't treated as a woman, she was treated as just a person. That's one of the main reasons i avoid fandoms in general, they'll sexualize anything that they can. I don't have a problem with having a sexual female character, but it's when that's used as the only character trait they have, that it makes me mad. Also when it's used as a character trait when it completely contradicts that character's personality, that drives me nuts.
