Description
Space Assault Destroyer Isokaze class with her 2200-2201 Refit using the data which Yamato brought back from it's journey to Iscandar and back with the battles against the Gamillas and White Comet / Gatlantis empires. The older less powerful triple 12,7cm positron guns replaced by the same calibre shock cannons, as well as added 4 twin 76mm pulse lasers together with a wave-motion engine core. With these refits these 80m long destroyers become potent ships against any threats the Earth Defence Force - United Nations Cosmo Force had to face in the 23rd century.
The main weapon now have the firepower to destroy or heavily damage Gamillan and Gatlantean ships, while the pulse lasers provide limited anti strikecraft and missile defence, though the ships still had to rely on the manoeuvrability as they lacked any armour whatsoever. The instalment of the Wave Motion Power Core provided the ship extra energy for these weapon systems as well as Warp jump capability, drastically increasing their range of operations!
In the end the refit's new weapon system as follows:
2x1,2x3 12,7cm shock cannons,
4x2 76mm pulse lasers,
3x torpedo tubes.

While they are looking nice, the bigger ships are always favourable.

I'm tempted to write up the statistics for using the ship you have drawn here in the Star Wars SAGE edition roleplaying game, and drawing a deck-plan of its internals.
Though 80 meters is twice the length of anything else I have mapped...

Well it's a proper capital ship not like a Corellian freighter, also it has multiple decks and different technology than Star Wars

Not too many decks, though. Β The section with the command deck locks to be about 8 m high, so taking into account plating thickness you are looking at 3 decks there, 2 decks for the rest of the ship, plus turrets. Β And its nice and narrow, so mapping wouldn't be a horrific task

These are the ship's dimensions:
Length: 80m
Beam: 24,5m aft (wings), 17m front (wings?)
Height: 18m (aft wings)
I use this scale: 2m = 31pixels
I can provide some original sketch art of the bridge and links to the episodes showing some parts of the inside of the ship.

Excellent design, Tzoli.Β I like how you made the shock-cannons look like an authentic upgrade/refit of the original ship.Β The pulse lasers are a nice addition as well.
I also am liking the new Garmilas ships you are posting on animesuki.Β Very cool.

Oh, I thought you two were collaborating on them.Β My apologies.
BTW, would you mind if I took a shot at making a 3D version of your Isokaze class (or a variant).
Here is an example of what my models come out like in lightwave.

I've been meaning to take a crack at doing the three EDF ships from 2199 (whenever I get the time to ), and I wouldn't mind doing variants (the improved versions) with those.

Well he asked me to make these refits with barelled gun turrets to look as intermediate designs, the Pulse lasers are my logical idea to enhance the designs. The Muramase and the Kongo will follow as well. But I've done the Andromeda and the Arizona a few years ago when there were only plans to make Yamato 2202.

I've used my logic to solve the shortcomings of the designs (Lack of visible close range AA guns)

I remember the discussion about the Arizona and Andromeda with Ithekro on animesuki.
You've done a fantastic job.Β
Zenseava used to have some variants of what he speculated the predecessors to the Yukikaze/Isokaze class and Kongo/Kirishima class ships might look like.Β
lighthousezen.up.n.seesaa.net/β¦
I'm not sure if I want to use long barrels, stubby barrels, or keep the original orifices for the ones I do.
I may even do variants that use all three since that would be easy to do (I'll just make three different turret object files that I can easily import/cut-paste into the main file).Β
I'll see if I can get the raw (untextured and unmapped) general objects done sometime this week for just the Isokaze.
I've noticed upon studying the design within the last 24-hours that it is not a cylindrical hull.Β It is somewhat flat on the bottom two--thirds going from the fuel tanks to the front where it tappers to a square nose that has the engine "wing" jutting down.Β
The aft last "third" appears to be cylindrical.Β I can do that effect my manipulating the verticies of a cylinder and will give a 1st-draft a whirl today (of only the main superstructure).Β
It is my understanding the Isokaze class is 80m long, by 24m high, by 23m wide.Β Are those dimensions correct do you know?

Thank you, Tzoli.
That helps a great deal.
I'll jot those down on my note-pad and keep it in front of me while I work (helps a lot to keep the dimensions within the confines of the object).
I started the Isokaze class today.
It's not much, but here is the start (tail-nose section).

Looks good so far though the engine cupola thing (which had these small wings) looks continous without break on the drawings.
But can I ask for a simple 3D model while you at it?
I would like to finish this drawing of mine:
tzoli.deviantart.com/art/Le-waβ¦
But I have trouble drawing the line (on the top view) separating the yellow and grey parts on the roof of the wagon.
Can you make a simple 3D object of the wagon's roof (without the spyplane launch system of course)?

Kodai-Okuda In reply to Tzoli [2017-03-02 18:58:38 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, Tzoli.
I can either make is look smooth (like it does) and continous, OR, I can chose to not use a Nurb (light-curvature effect) which will make it look separate from the cone.
My original idea was to do much of the fine-details in the UV mapping stage where I can add black lines to show part separation (like with the wings).
However, that is a few weeks away from this stage.
Also, I am still working on my Saturn class heavy frigate for Nexus Arcana, and a Jeep model for a client.
Let me see if I can whip something up tonight or tomorrow night.
Do you need the top line to be straight?Β OR, do you need it to curve?Β
Does not matter to me either way, I just need to know so I can place the edges and verticies in their proper places for a clear and crisp border effect.

Tzoli In reply to Kodai-Okuda [2017-03-02 20:20:33 +0000 UTC]
For the wagon the side view is the correct one or the base, but transform a curvy line on a curvy object from side view to top view is more than challenging for my visionary mind That is why I need help to see how it really looks.
What I've meant for the Isokaze that the engine cone looks like this:
\
Β \
Β /
/
Rather then this:
\
Β I
Β \
Β /
Β I
/
It's continuous without a break in my opinion.
But it's your model you have the final word
Some of these images might help you with the model:

I've discarded the idea of the bow mounted shock cannon equipped Isokaze, the forward wing section will look ugly with a cut out wedge in it. Instead I will make 2 Kongos. One which have it's hanger bay intact, the other where I intend to put a number of 12,7cm heavy pulse laser turrets (probably quads as on the Yamato)

Same with the other ships.Β
I look forward to the designs you two are working on, and if I can squeeze out the time, I'll attempt my own versions in Lightwave.
