Description

The house was quiet at this hour and the moonlight flooded in through the large stained-glass windows as Jonathan made his way to the front door. He liked going out at night, running on his own. The grounds of Whitechurch Manor were so vast that he didn't even have to leave the premises, he could just run through the woods, the cemetery, the overgrown garden. He had made it halfway through the hall when the drawing-room doors opened and Sydney came wandering out.

His eyes narrowed as he noticed Jonathan.

"What?"

"Nothing," Sydney said cheerfully, strolling over to Jonathan with a colourful drink in hand. He held it out to him, "Here, darling, have that one on me."

"You know I don't drink that shit."

"I'm surprised, given your rampant alcoholism. Should I get you a whiskey then?"

"Syd, I'm going for a run. Why would I-?"

"It's just that I care for you, you know?"

"Since when?" Jonathan raised an eyebrow. This was their game and they both knew it. They insulted each other, riled each other up, all coming from a place of honest affection. Sometimes, Jonathan thought that aside from Matthias, Syd was the only person who truly and totally got him. There was a deeper understanding between them as people who firmly walked in the grey areas of life, something other members of the family, not even Velkan, didn't share with them.

"You wound me. I always have your best interests in mind. And at the moment, my biggest concern is getting some liquid courage into you before you leave the house looking like that."

And there it was.

"Goodnight, Syd."

"I mean, I admire your courage."

"I'm going to punch you."

"Fine," Syd sipped on his cocktail, "I'm completely underappreciated in this house."

This is super random and actually only happened because I worked over Syd a bit. He's got new horns and StarEyedOcelet and I decided to update his wardrobe because that was the main factor which prevented me from doing way more with the character. So, here's Syd's new and improved look for 2020 and those two are just so good together.
