I, Elijah Valentine, the coolest P.I. in town, just relaxed in my office with a glass full of blood-brandy when she came in.
Lush green eyes, rosy lips and breathtakingly beautiful ravenblack hair. A woman to die for, literally. My sister Elisabeth, star singer of the Black Moon Club.
I knew she meant trouble. She always did. And I was right.
Sitting on my desk, she took the brandy out of my hand and drank it herself. She told me that our brother, James, owner of the Black Moon, was charged with murder and on the run.
"Murder? A vampire charged with murder? Dear, you're kidding.", I said, inhaling the smoke from my cigarette.
"It's not what you think! They say he murdered another vampire for the Maltese Bat. James send me to get you. He says you have to find the Bat to clear his name."
The Maltese Bat. Now she got my attention...
