"Nate!" Joel's voice was almost drowned out by the roaring storm. The wind picked up small pieces of debris and turned them into dangerous shrapnels. Joel step forward to reach Nate but Parker grabbed his shoulder and yanked him back, only seconds before part of the ceiling smashed down just where the former space pirate had been.
"Watch out, it's bad enough when he gets himself killed!"
"Don't say that, dammit! Nate, stop!"
"No chance!" Nate's voice sounded almost manical. He was close to reaching the sword, fighting his way towards it step by step, deeper into the heart of the swirling chaos.
"Nate, listen to him! This is madness!" Beth had found hold on a broken column. Joel couldn't remember ever having seen so much fear on her features.
"This is... what... I have... been... looking for all my life... and I'm not... bloody... turning back... now!" Nate pressed out, his face a grimace of determination and pain as bolts of lighting struck his hand which drew ever closer to the price he so desperately craved.
"Nate!" Joel struggled against Parker's grip. "Stop!"
Their world was lost in an explosion of light and wind as Nate's fingers closed around Excalibur's hold...
