Description
Well, not so much tutorial, but step by step...A little sneak peak from what I'm doing now. I really liked the skin, so I wanted to share the steps, if it's any help, I try to explain what's happening there...
1. Base color
2.Simple shadowing (just placing the shadows)
3.Adding color to the base with gradient tool
4.Soften and darken the shadows
5. Adding light(cheek, nose, forehead, corner of the eyes)
6.Adding blush (cheeks, nose, forehead, chin)
7. A little highlight spots, lips, eyes)
DONE!
I added color to the skin after I placed the shadows, I think it's more easier to see where the color is needed.
Well, I hope it helps. I'm going to take a break now (it's good to take breaks! It makes you see the work better, than just staring at it for 8 hours!)

well, I admit that it's mostly a walktrough than a tutorial
but I was willing to try your technique, so just wondering which progam you used, and if it could work in some other program, like open canvas or sai or something...

I usually don't bother to continue after the second phase. XP There's just so much to color in my pieces, and I like them to get finished as quickly as possible, hehe.
But maybe I should work on my patience, so that one day my pieces would look as finished and detailed as yours. Sigh...
