Hi, I've already tried your technique and the "standard" one with multiple exposures taken directly from the camera. IMHO, the second one gives much better results, and allows more control on the amount of information you want to retain and to discard. E.g., if you want to have a deeper sky, you only take 3 pics, while if you want it smoother you can go for 5 or more (I've even made shots from 13 exposures). For moving objects, you're right, it's difficult, but in standard scenarios Photomatix can handle them pretty well. Of course you need a good, solid tripod for HDR shots, and auto-bracketing is a must. My suggestion is to try this: find a good scenario for HDR (which means, great DOF), take 13 shots in RAW (all the range from -2 to +2), and then try combining them. First, try with one single RAW and extract exposures from it; then, try with the three files. I'm sure you'll see the difference by yourself. Anyway, good tut!

oh, thank you absolutely the second one is the best and i know the difference between them, i made lot of hdr's with all technics, i made this tut that is just the easy way to make an hdr for those who asked how can you make this hdr's.
but again thank you so much for the comment

You're welcome I've started doing HDR only since a year or so, and I'm still not very experienced, but I like it very much

this is total nonsense ... because the entire post is missing in photoshop. because you think it is really easy to do so if you make a visual exposure from 3? You should already include the exposures in the camera ... what you do is simply meaningless pseudo hdr and not the right technique.
you better occupied with the subject before you publish such tutorials and many people believe this.

Athrian In reply to LittleBigGiants [2010-04-18 02:38:42 +0000 UTC]
Actually, the tutorial IMHO is good.
Well ... if i'm have a situation, where there is a lot of movement (eg. strong wind and clouds are on photo,
or people on street) i use that technique. Only difference is that i'm not using photoshop, but Digital Photo Pro
(standard software added to canon with expositions +2, -2, 0). Anyway, if there is much more time and not so many
this are moving i'm doing hdr by merging 3 jpg files (then often i switch from raw to jpg) with backtracking 1,7 etc.
So the tutorial is usable. When i'm using 3 different files (not different exposed files from 1 raw) i also
almost every time i have the same shoot in raw - becouse if sth. will happend to 1 of few photos (moved, new element on it - eg.
people) damn - you can try, but most probobly you will not align this photos into hdr. If you are new to this ...
more likley you will mess up one of photos So for begginer this tutorial can be helpfull.
Btw. sorry for my poor english

The best results of you has Athrian.
But it is simply so that one by 3 shots contrasts hinbekommt more than when I made a recording for 2 other press out ... RAW is all well and good but it can not anyway. And with the 3 images from the camera it would look better than at length with the computer generated from the second and third exposures.
and yes you can take steps 0.1 and with the right firmware you can also take 6 bracketing with AEB
